2 Clinical KEY TASKS Support therapy staff in their work with children and their families. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Assistance given in preparation of therapy sessions and in the clearing up afterwards. Support therapy staff e.g. Supervision in the pool area, assistance as required in the casting room, assistance with therapy sessions. Create resources as part of therapy intervention e.g. photos, board maker programme, and home programmes. Videoing of children following guidelines. Downloading and storing digital video programmes. Documentation of interventions with patients is in line with Waitemata DHB policy i.e. accurate and satisfy legal requirements. Correct manual handling techniques are used at all times. Equipment Management Maintenance of equipment, toys, wheelchairs and resources. Therapy equipment, toys, wheelchairs are maintained, and cleaned regularly with hygiene standards being met in accordance with Waitemata DHB policy. Therapy equipment, toys, wheelchairs are checked for safety. Loan equipment is tracked. Specific equipment is made as directed by therapists. Cataloguing of resources occurs. Couriering of parcels. Administration / Clerical Support to Therapists Filing of Correspondence Filing is accurate and timely, ensuring others can access files and relevant information as required. Page 2 of 7
3 Computer Literacy KEY TASKS Photocopying and Faxing Telephone Enquiries Ordering, Procuring and Processing of Supplies EXPECTED OUTCOMES Electronic documentation. Copy/ Fax/ Scan documents and correspondence as required. Where necessary, calls directed to appropriate person. All calls are dealt with in an efficient, professional manner. Arrange appointments, as necessary, for therapy schedule. This process will be completed in a timely and efficient manner. Use of systems and following processes, which ensure effective communication. General Team meetings are attended as required. Administration support completed as directed by Therapy Team. Respectful and sensitive interaction with children, their families, and staff. Reception duties are undertaken as required by the Therapy Team. Cultural practices are recognized and respected. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Additional tasks as instructed by the CRS Team to meet the overall purpose of the position. Responsive to requests. Additional tasks carried out conscientiously. Work practice is maintained within Waitemata District health Board frame work. Work within the Privacy Act, Patient Codes of Rights and Responsibilities. To recognize Individual Responsibility for Workplace Health and Safety under the Health and Safety in Employment Act Waitemata District Health Board Health and Safety policies are read and understood and relevant procedures applied to their own work activities. 7 PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Therapy Assistant Minimum Preferred Qualification Word Processing qualification desirable. Minimum 4 years secondary education. Current driver s licence Experience Experience in the use of Word. Previous experience in a health environment preferred. Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Enjoy working with children and their families. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines. Flexibility and willingness to learn new systems.
