2 Key Specific Expectations Team Leadership Is responsible for the day to day co-ordination of the Anaesthetic Technicians and provision of service on a daily basis Communicates with medical, technical an nursing teams effectively enabling efficient use of resources and staff Consistently sets and communicates high standards for team performance Provides clear expectations of tasks to be achieved and standards to be met. Demonstrates commitment to resolve conflict to the satisfaction of all involved. Communicates clearly/succinctly in appropriate style and presents effectively in various situations Is an effective facilitator of meetings, discussions and processes. Carries out Performance development reviews on the members of their PDR tree. Operational Management Ensures that all equipment is safe and appropriately maintained to meet service standards. Provide support to the Associate Charge Technician in operational matters and staff performance management. Provide Support to Technician Educator as required and participate in technician training Attend any meetings and sit on any committees as deemed necessary by the Charge Technician Anaesthetic Trainees Act as a mentor for training or orientation purposes Act as a work based assessor of trainee Anaesthetic technicians Professional Leadership Ensures that professional standards are maintained and staff conduct is appropriate. Maintains own professional portfolio. Contributes in decision making on issues impacting on professional practice. Clinical Practice Delegates appropriately to skill mix and acuity Supervises the quality of care delivered to ensure consistency and safety Adheres to key tasks as listed in the Position description for Anaesthetic technician Maintains clinical practice to be able to provide clinical assistance in care delivery, especially in emergencies Remains current in the use of all specialist equipment including the cell saver and TEG Ensures that appropriate equipment is available and maintained to allow for appropriate monitoring and care delivery Back-up systems are in place and work when required. Education To be a work base assessor to provide education to both qualified Anaesthetic Technicians, Trainee Anaesthetic technicians and Nursing staff Continuous Improvement and Quality Management SA leader and advocate of quality to the team Follows the service s quality plan by working to meet devolved objectives Waitemata District Health Board Team leader Anaesthetic Tech Waitakere Nov 14 Page 2 of 6

3 Ensures complaint and occurrence reporting process is followed according to policy. This includes, but is not limited to; investigating, analyzing, planning, reviewing and acting Ensures Health & Safety policies are followed Identifies priorities for the development of best practice protocols. Information Management Information gathering processes are followed to collect patient, clinical and volume information. Able to report monthly on service performance. Provides all relevant information upward to the satisfaction of the next tier manager. 5 VERIFICATION: Employee: Department Head: Date: PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualification Experience Minimum Be currently registered as an Anaesthetic Technician in New Zealand. Have gained the Certificate of Proficiency (issued by the New Zealand society of Anaesthetists) if qualified prior to February If qualified post February 1993 have gained Certification with the Auckland Institute of Technology n conjunction with hospital training. The ODA and ODP Level III Training is recognized in New Zealand as equivalent training. Minimum of six years experience. Experience in the healthcare sector within a unit senior Anaesthetic Technician. An established understanding of health services and service delivery objectives. Demonstrated leadership experience. Demonstrated experience in change management and Preferred Healthcare management qualification or comparative relevant management experience Advanced team management ability.
