1 CENTRAL PLAINS EXPO XXXI POWER OF THE PAST FORCE OF THE FUTURE An educational conference/vendor exhibit at the DOUBLETREE BY HILTON WICHITA AIRPORT WICHITA, KANSAS September 18 and 19 th 2014 KSHSCP KAHRMM KHELSA APIC Four healthcare associations have formed an organization called the Central Plains Expo (CPE). CPE is made up of representatives from the Association for Professionals in Infection Control & Epidemiology (APIC)-Wichita Chapter; Kansas Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (KAHRMM); Kansas Healthcare Environmental Services and Laundry Association (KHELSA) and Kansas Society for Healthcare Central Service Professionals (KSHCSP). The CPE Board presents an annual educational conference and vendor fair that provides a forum for learning and networking through sessions, exhibits and meetings. The conference is geared towards staff and management in infection control, environmental services, sterile processing and material management. This year s theme highlights where we have come from and what the future holds for our professions.

Types, parts and components of rigid scopes. How to identify scope damage. Cleaning, care and handling in CSPD and the OR. Proper scope sterilization. Discuss techniques CS professionals can use during processing to help prevent TASS. Identify proper cleaning and handling protocols for ophthalmic instruments. Session B: KAHRMM Round Table Hot Topics in Materials Management Mike Morgan No CEU s Objective(s): Facilitate discussion of current topics amongst attendees. Session C: KHELSA Safety Data Sheet Training Andy Wickersham 1 CEU Objectives: -Familiarize attendees with OSHA s regulations contained in the Haz Com Standard. Familiarize attendees with labeling requirements, use of pictograms and signal words. Familiarizes attendees with general PPE requirements. Session D: APIC Sciences of Microbiology, sterilization and disinfection and Biofilms: The Hidden Menace Steven Kuber and Martha Young. 2 CEU s Objectives: - Explain the nature of microorganisms and their relationship to sterilization and disinfection.
