5 MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTORS The Center for Preparedness Education announces the 14 th Annual Preparedness Symposia series, Learning from the Past; Preparing for the Future. The Symposia series brings together individuals from a wide variety of professions in the preparedness communities: public health, health care, health education, behavioral health, emergency management, EMS, fire & rescue, law enforcement, private industry and other interested parties. The goal is to provide practical ideas and lessons learned from previous events, as well as insight into the future, in order to continually improve whole community preparedness. This year the Nebraska Medicine Biocontainment Unit will be presenting a special, one-day training on Care and Coordination for the Highly Infectious Disease Patient and Related Procedures in conjunction with the Symposia series. By adapting our format to the needs of the community on a yearly basis, keeping the fees low, and offering multiple opportunities to attend across the state, we continue to strive to provide thought-provoking sessions and energizing networking opportunities to those working in disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery across the state of Nebraska. Supported through funding from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to the Center for Preparedness Education.
