2 GOALS & OBJECTIVES Why you should attend: CVI s Update in Nuclear Cardiology 2011 CME program is designed to further the application, management and clinical interpretation skills of healthcare professionals in non-invasive nuclear cardiac imaging. Target Audience: Cardiologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians; nuclear technologists and mid level providers involved in nuclear medicine. The program is also appropriate for all physicians and healthcare professionals who treat patients with coronary artery disease. After attending the program participants will be better able to: Discuss the updated ACC/ASNC 2009 Appropriate Use Criteria for cardiac radionuclide imaging Describe the 2010 Updated ICANL accreditation requirements for appropriate use Identify and apply software methods to reduce patient myocardial perfusion SPECT radiation dose Identify SPECT image reconstruction techniques that cope with lower image counting statistics Anticipate MPI SPECT artifacts by viewing planar projection images Use gated perfusion SPECT to identify and characterize artifacts Discuss the use of imaging to assess suspected ACS in the emergency department Describe the current and future applications of molecular imaging Recognize current regulatory considerations for the approval of cardiac imaging agents Identify different types and classes of pharmacologic agents and how they work Discuss the patient characteristics that influence the choice of imaging agents Identify most common Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) Recognize infection prevention challenges for imaging physicians and technologists Describe current industry standards for infection control for the prevention of patient infection Accreditation Statement This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Drexel University College of Medicine, the Cardiovascular Institute of Philadelphia and the Nuclear Cardiology Working Group of the Delaware Valley. SNMTS, through its Verification of Involvement In Continuing Education (VOICE) program, has approved the CVI 7th Annual Update in Nuclear Cardiology for a maximum of 7.0 continuing education hours (CEHs). VOICE-approved credit is recognized by most licensure states and by the ARRT (as Category A credit). Participants will receive CE credit for lectures at which they were present a minimum of 80% of the presentation.
