1 Summer Academy Coordinators Matthew Friedler Heather Greenberg REGISTRATION INFORMATION The Greenwood Lake UFSD is proud to announce the 2018 Summer Academy. ALL SUMMER ACADEMY OFFERINGS ARE FREE OF CHARGE Students must be dropped off and picked up at the designated locations on time. All courses are Monday through Thursday during each session unless otherwise specified. Registration forms must be submitted through to the coordinators. Please provide your student with a snack, water bottle, and sunscreen. Courses will be cancelled if minimum enrollment is not met. The application deadline is Monday, June 18th. Enrollment is limited and is first-come, first-served. 2 Session 1: July 9th to July 12th Grade K (incoming K students) Ready, Set, Kindergarten, Ms. Cullen Students entering Kindergarten will enjoy games and crafts while exploring basic reading and math concepts. Grades K-3 Let the Adventure Begin!, Ms. Cullen A true summer camp experience complete with arts/crafts, outdoor activities, and group games, ALL while sharpening your educational skill! 12:30pm to 3:30pm, Elementary School ES Theatre Workshop, Ms. Nardozza/Ms. Kroll This 2-week session will conclude July 19th friends complete with acting, singing and dancing. STUDENTS MUST SIGN-UP FOR SESSION 1 & 2. 8:30am to 11:30am, Elem School Grade 1 Mo Willems Author Study, Ms. Bianco Read, write, draw and craft stories about Piggy & Gerald, Knuffle Bunny and other amazing characters from Mo Willems books. Grade 1-2 STEM Lego Laboratory, Ms. Bianco Students will use the Engineering Design Process to solve a variety of STEM and Lego challenges that promote critical thinking & creative problem solving skills. Session 1: July 9th to July 12th Grades 1-3 Wonderful World of Eric Carle, Ms. Reed Explore books written by Eric Carle through crafts, scavenger hunts, games and outdoor activities. Rhythm & Rhyme, Ms. Reed Put on your dancing shoes & learn to dance while singing karaoke to the hits of today. Grade 4 the magic of math! Tuesdays, Grades 4-8 Baton Twirling, Ms. Rasmason Learn the basics of twirling and dance. MS Theatre Workshop, Ms. Nardozza/Ms. Kroll This 2-week session will conclude July 19th friends complete with acting, singing and dancing. Tue-Thu Only, 8:30am -11:30am, MS Bldg. High Rock Wall Climb, Coach Radon Challenge yourself and learn proper techniques and maneuvers to go as high as you can. Gym Softball/Windmill Pitching, Ms. Verbovsky Join the drills and activities to learn basic skills like fielding, hitting, pitching & more! Field around the Middle School and also work on independent Mon. & Wed.,

Grades 1-3 Summer Enrichment, Ms. Cullen Get challenged to maintain your skills from the school year through games, crafts and gross motor activities. Mon. & Wed., Design Squad, Mr. Vinelli Teams create to win friendly competitions. Teams use problem solving skills to build a bottle rocket, mouse trap car and be challenged egg drop competition. 8:30am to 11:30am, Middle School

We will make exciting crafts, play games, while also reading a good book.
