FlexiPass is a full day summer camp running from 9am-4pm, revolving around sports activities and different games. Serving thousands of kids over the years, PSA has worked FlexiPass into a successful sports camp, but has now expanded into something even more. We like to think of Flexi as a giant clubhouse where kids get to meet new friends and form lasting relationships. Flexi is a camp that makes them want to come back day after day instead of staying home and playing video games or watching TV. From board games to arts and crafts, we will offer many options to go along with indoor sports that keep those heart rates pumping! The sports include basketball, soccer, volleyball, dodgeball, floor hockey, flag football and much, much more. We also will be bringing back Fun Friday every week this summer. This is still the camp you know and love with excellent staff, resources, and facilities, but now improved to make every day different and exciting. FlexiPass is held indoors at the PSA1, and PSA Murphy locations with lunch and snacks included in the fee. A ratio of no more than 10 campers to one counselor is maintained at all times. FlexiPass kids are grouped according to age level for safety and fun. Camp runs Monday through Friday, June 6 th through August 19th, from 9am-4pm each day. Campers must be five years old to be able to attend Flexi Camp. PSA Murphy and PSA McKinney will be closed July 28th and July 29th. PSA1 will be open on those days. ALL SUMMER FLEXIPASS PROGRAMS! These half day camps are led by some of the best school and club coaches in the area. Our structured program is designed to build each player up every day in the most important individual skills which are shooting, rebounding, dribbling, passing, and defensive positioning. In addition to the individual skills, the camp will teach basic team drills that will enable each camper to understand better how he or she can make a difference on their team. Every day we will finish with some sort of game competition that fits the age and skill level. The players will be divided up based on age first, but then we will evaluate if their skill fits that age and if it doesn t, we will move them to a group where they will have the best chance to have a successful and fun camp. We will provide a snack and reversible jersey which is included in the fee. Campers do not need to bring a ball. Make it a full day with a ½ Day FlexiPass Add On. Please make note on where the camp is held as we will use PSA 1, and Murphy. Also, we do offer different times during the summer, so please check if it is a morning or afternoon session. The campers will spend the first hour doing skills work, the second hour working on team concepts and will finish up with at least a 40 minute scrimmage. A new added bonus is we will film one of the scrimmages during the week, and then do a film session the next day so they can see how a coach breaks down a film and reviews with them their play. We will also be able to you this film to watch with your child. These players will be pushed so they can understand what they will encounter when they try out for their school team. This camp is NOT for beginners or kids who really don t love the game of basketball. Space is limited so sign up early. We will provide a snack and reversible jersey which is included in the fee. We will only take 32 players into the camp each week so sign up early. Campers do not need to bring a ball. 25 UTD Animations Using Scratch MIT Scratch is a GUI based programming environment. While it has a friendly interface that appeals to young children, it has tons of functionality! You can do 2D animations of objects, create cool drawings, make a character sing a tune, develop an interactive game (control it with various inputs including voice!) and even narrate a story with images! Go to scratch.mit.edu to check out the tool and lots of examples. We will use a specific list of examples shown in Scratch uses drag and drop programming which means no syntax errors program is always ready to run! It enables the young learners to focus on the logic instead. This camp is for beginners no prior experience is required. It uses drag and drop programming, which means there is no room for syntax errors! You can convert your idea to code quickly and see it in action! You can code 3D animations or games with ease. Alice comes with a powerful graphics library that minimizes coding effort. Visit to preview the content. Since Alice does require careful drop operations, we do not recommend Elementary students to take Alice directly, we recommend them to do Scratch first. 26 You have a great idea for mobile app, but do not know how to program in Java/Objective C? No worries. MIT App Inventor enables you to use drag-and-drop mechanism to put your creative ideas to work and make Android apps. It will be helpful to bring an Android phone to test your apps. While dragand-drop mechanism is easy to get used to, you will come across lots of components that need to come together to make a complex mobile application. We encourage Elementary and middle school students to complete Alice camp first. August 1 5 PSA1 Ages :30am 11:30am $195 UTD CoDrone Codrone is an innovative Arduino based drone kit. It can be used to take your coding skills literally to the sky! While the drones can be exciting, coding them can be overwhelming, so we encourage the campers to complete another coding camp (Scratch, Alice or JavaScript) first before coming to camp. We will start with the simple activity and introduce the complexity and sophistication in steps. Campers will be expected to type a few lines of code for every hands-on activity. If interested, parents can review the lesson August 1 5 PSA1 Ages :00pm 4:00pm $195 VEX ROBITICS EXPERIENCE designed by: THE E-EXPERIENCE robotics Level 1 VEX IQ Our level 1 VEX IQ Summer Experience will expose all learners to the exciting world of engineering. 35 PSA CAMP POLICIES PSA is accredited by the state of Texas as a licensed child care facility and must follow strict standards before allowing any child into our camps. Each child needs to be registered in MySam, and have filled out all online forms, specifically the CAMPER INFORMATION FORM, before they can attend camp. PSA camps operate June, July and August; Winter Break and Spring Break. Camps are operated at various times between 8:30am-4pm. Before & After Care Opens at 7:30am and Ends at 6pm Appropriate Clothes for Camps Please wear appropriate clothing for an active camp day. We require tennis shoes for court play; no flip flops or sandals. If your child does not wear appropriate shoes, we will have to call you to bring some to PSA, as we cannot let them play activities due to the fact they could hurt themselves. Jeans are not something we recommend for play during the camp day. Check In, Check Out and Late Pick-Up Policies 1. Before Care check in will not start prior to 7:30 am as we have to assure the facility is prepared to receive children. 2. You are expected to pick your child up no later than 6:00 pm from After Care as PSA is a recreational game facility starting at that time. 3. Parents are given a 15 MINUTE GRACE PERIOD to pick up kids from camp. 4. After that, a $1 a minute late fee will be charged, payable to PSA. 5. Camp check in will start no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the stated time in the camp brochure for your child s camp. 6. Add-On 1/2 day and Before and After care passes can be purchased to extend your child s camp day at any time, so if you find yourself running late feel, free to call PSA and we can help you out. 7. We highly recommend an adult bring the child into PSA for the morning check-in. 8. There will be computer stations set up for all camp check-ins during the summer. 9. If someone other than the child s parent is responsible for pickup, PSA requires a note from the parent with that person s name. 10. PSA will not release a child to an unapproved person. 11. No child will be allowed to walk out of PSA to a waiting car. 12. Supervisors and staff will stop children who are seen walking out without a parent to make sure they are leaving with one. This is for their safety. Communication 34 PSA communicates mostly through . In emergency cases we will make phone calls. Notices are also posted on the Bulletin Board inside the Gym. Discipline and Guidance Practices Our understanding is that children participating in competitive situations will not always react in the proper way. We look upon ourselves as teachers and mentors to these kids and will work with them to teach them how to better react to certain situations. It is up to the camp director to decide if or when a child should be removed from camp for disciplinary actions. The campers must respect the counselors and other campers at all times. We will deal with indiscretions on a one-on-one basis. Actions that would be deemed removable offenses from camp on a temporary or permanent basis may include:
