2 HOW TO STAT ENOLL IN A POGAM To enroll into a program and obtain a certificate you need to make an appointment at the UBTech Student Success Center. Adult students are required to complete a basic assessment of reading and math skills. The test is free and takes approximately one-to-two hours to complete. Students who wish to be admitted into a program must complete the admission requirements for the specific program. Visit with Jim LaMuth or Amber Thacker at the UBTech Student Success Center for financial aid and scholarship information. Jim is available in Vernal and Amber is available in oosevelt. Complete registration for admission at the front office in Vernal or oosevelt. You can also begin entering your information in at POTAL.UBTECH. EDU/POTAL now and finish the registration process at the front desk. Enroll in your program, and pay a non-refundable $60.00 enrollment fee and other appropriate tuition and fees. ENOLL IN A CLASS The front office operates on a walk-in basis and is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in Vernal and oosevelt. egister at least one week before class begins. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS High school students may enroll and attend day or evening courses during the school year including summer after qualifying through their local school. If a student is interested in taking classes, they will need to contact the high school counselor and make arrangements with their high school schedule to attend UBTech. There are secondary certificates available, students benefit from free tuition. If a student attends a high school in surrounding areas and have counselor permission to attend UBTech, call Deniele Malnar, to schedule classes. STACKABLE CETIFICATES TANSFE TO USU! 1. Upon completing a 900-hour certificate at UBTech, 30 credit hours can be applied towards an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree at Utah State University - Uintah Basin. 2. Apply your associates degree toward a Bachelor of Science in General Technology at USU - Uintah Basin. 4 HEAVY DUTY DIESEL All courses are taught to NATEF standards so that graduates will be prepared to pass the ASE industry standard tests. Students will gain experience in maintaining a fleet of diesel trucks that are used in the Truck Driver Training program at UBTech as well as compressors and other diesel powered equipment. If you become a corrections officer, your primary duty will be to guard and supervise prisoners confined to penal institutions. SUGICAL TECHNOLOGIST (1265 HOUS) Surgical Technologists are members of an operating room team, which includes the surgeon(s), anesthesia provider, and circulating nurse. Their primary function is to fulfill the first scrub role and to help with the preparation of the operation room by setting up sterile surgical equipment, checking equipment for proper functionality, and assisting the surgeon with instruments and supplies while maintaining the sterile field. PHAMACY TECHNICIAN (600 HOUS) Students will learn to interpret, calculate, and fill medication orders, as well as all other skills needed to assist the Pharmacist. This course prepares students to take the National Pharmacy Technician Exam and to get licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Utah. Clinical hours will be completed on your own time, after school and on weekends. Students must be 18 years old by May 1. See admissions for applications or online at UBTech.edu. PHAMACY TECHNICIAN 8/22-5/24 M-Th 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. $1637 +books NUSING ASSISTANT (100 HOUS) This course will enable the student to render safe and meaningful care to clients in acute and longterm care and to assist a licenced nurse. Practical skills of personal, emotional, and social care will be emphasized. This course prepares students to take the state CNA exam. It includes 76 hours of class instruction and 24 hours of clinical externship. Must be 16 years old. *State examination fee of $75 must be paid by the student directly to the Utah Nursing Assistant egistry, after completing the class. Must be 16, immunizations required. Students will develop their management skills and become familiar with inventory controls, food costing, understanding proper receiving and the flow of food and sanitation. 7 BUSINESS & INDUSTY POGAMS IT Support Technician prepares students with skills in basic IT information, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, basic networking, and security. Students will also be taught appropriate customer service skills. Students will be prepared with the necessary skills for employment in IT support, help desk, and call centers. Building off IT Support Technician hours, Network Technician prepares students with skills to secure a network by developing network access and to maintain documentation while providing reference and support. Students will be prepared with the necessary skills for employment in network administration as a network specialist. Building off Network Technician hours, Security Technicians provide support services to industry with security needs. This program prepares students with skills to install and integrate security systems. Students will be able to plan network installations, as well as order and mount appropriate equipment.
