The Sloan Museum is located just north of MCC in the Flint Cultural Center. Now through January 16, you get free admission to the Sloan Museum just by showing your MCC ID. The Sloan Museum is currently showing the Grossology exhibit about natural body functions. Kids will love it and you will too. 3 Mott Community College (Main Campus) Halloween Party It is time to gear up for the Mott Community College Department of Public Safety Annual Halloween Party. The 2010 Halloween Party will be held on Friday, October 29th in the Ballenger Field House (Main-Campus) from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The activities will again include Bounce Houses, a Haunted House, Face painting, Pumpkin Painting, Costume Contest with Prizes, Live DJ and Candy Bags and Treats. All activities are FREE and the event is open to the public. Last year we had over 2000 participants. Severe Weather: Announcements are made on the local radio and TV stations. For COLLEGE CLOSING. Call (810) NEW READING PLUS It is our pleasure to announce to you that NTC has been selected to pilot a silent reading fluency intervention system. The online program is called Reading Plus and it will be officially launched during the Fall 2010 semester. In the meantime, I am offering students enrolled during the fall semester session the opportunity to participate in this FREE reading program. The Northern Tier Center STUDY AREA Is for students to use, which is located in the hallway adjacent to the Student Lounge. Reading Plus is a web-based reading intervention system that uses innovative technology to provide individualized scaffold silent reading practice for struggling readers in the post-secondary market as well as students in primary and secondary schools. The Reading Plus system, designed in alignment with current reading research, develops and improves reading proficiency by providing extensive engagement in high success, differentiated reading activities. If interested, please stop by our office and sign up for this fantastic opportunity for the NTC. This pilot reading program is open to anyone who wants to improve their reading fluency. Interested persons should contact the MCC Northern Tier Center at (810) to sign up. 3

Need some help? NTC has a math tutor available to tutor students enrolled in MATH 021, Math 110, and Math 120. His current schedule is: Monday - Wednesday 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday - Thursday 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. We are attempting to get more tutors, but we need YOUR help. You can help by stopping by the office and signing up. Don t continue to struggle when FREE tutoring help is available to you. 4

Please note the following dates in October and November Tuesday - October 5, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Wednesday-October 6, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Monday-October 11, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Tuesday-October 12, 2010 from 4:00pm to 5:30 pm Monday-October 18, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Tuesday-October 19, 2010 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm Monday-October 25, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Tuesday-October 26, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm Wednesday-November 3, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday-November 8, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday-November 15, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday-November 22, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday-November 29, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm More dates may be added later TB test are $10.00 and are dome on Tuesday and read on Thursday, please call for an appointment. Please make an appointment. Physicals for Mott Community College students are $ Appointment for TB tests and inoculations will be taken while the Nurse Practitioners are doing physical examinations. Tetanus Toxoid, Reduced Diphtheria Toxoid and Acellular Pertussis Vaccine (Tdap) is $ Vaccinations are done Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Except when the nurse practitioners are doing physical examinations. All payments are to be made to the Cashier s Office at the Main campus, and a receipt is to be brought back to the Public Safety Health Services Clinic, unless other arrangements have been made. Office Hours: Monday- Thursday 4:30 pm - 9:00 pm Stop by the Public Safety Office at the NTC is located in Room# 109 The Public Safety Department is responsible for security and emergency response at Mott Community College. The Department of Public Safety provides many services for the MCC students, faculty, staff and visitors. In addition to their availability in emergency situations the Department provides nonemergency assistance, such as: Personal Escort Car Problems Lost and Found Request for Student Notification of Personal Emergency. SIX STRATEGIES IN PLAYING IT SAFE WHEREVER YOU GO: At night, travel in groups of two or more people. Walk in well lit, heavily traveled areas. Share your schedule with family and friends. Where ever you are, stay ALERT to people and situations around you. Do not leave your belongings unattended. Always lock your car and keep valuables out of sight. Call Anytime!!! Student Service Fee: A nonrefundable $98.68 fee is charged each semester. Technology Fee: A $5.65 per contact hour fee will be charged for all courses. Tuition rates vary depending upon where you live. Permanent residency MUST be established 30 days prior to the beginning of classes. 7
