5 Bearkat Camp Bearkat Camp is designed to help you foster new friendships and to introduce you to the spirit, pride and traditions of Sam Houston State. You can make new connections by competing in a game of tug-o-war, challenging yourself on the ropes course, or by simply mingling around the campfire. This four day, three night camp is available for incoming freshman; there is also an additional camp available for transfer students.

7 Intramurals Our motto at Rec Sports is Jump In. Play hard. There are plenty of opportunities to play, so c mon and jump right in! We offer a variety of team, dual, and individual activities with both competitive and recreational divisions. Students can compete in traditional activities such as flag football and basketball, or non-traditional activities such as washers, shuffleboard, or even Xbox tournaments.

Our Adventure Trips allow you the opportunity to travel to many parts of the U.S. to hike, bike, ski, climb and more. You may also rent equipment (tents, sleeping bags, kayaks, etc.) by using our equipment rental program located in the Climbing Center.
