2 Overview Purpose This is a training course on the essential aspects of clinical, psychosocial, advocacy, administrative, financial, quality and regulatory issues related to living donation. The program provides a foundational track for individuals with less than 2 years of experience in the care of the living donor. There is an advanced and a liver track for the experienced practitioners and continuing education/ plenary sessions for all attendees. This activity will be submitted to the American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA) for approval to award contact hours. ANNA is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses. Who Should Attend? The following staff who are new to their roles, as well as, those who are experienced practitioners: Independent Living Donor Advocates for all clinical disciplines Living Donor Coordinators Social Workers Psychologists Physicians Physician leaders, Administrators and Managers for programs with living donor teams Quality and Compliance Staff Accommodations When you stay at Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach in Clearwater Beach, you ll be on the beach and minutes from Pier 60 Park and Clearwater Municipal Marina. This 4-star hotel is within close proximity of Captain Blighs Landing and Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Discuss emerging strategies to reduce costs to the live donor. Discuss professional boundaries and confidentiality challenges within live donor teams. Discuss emerging medical and ethical considerations for the care of the live donor. Discuss effective communication between living donor and transplant candidate team members. Outline the live donor process from intake through long term follow-up. Discuss CMS and OPTN/UNOS regulatory requirements for living donor programs. Discuss the kidney paired donation process including staffing roles and patient management. Outline the financial considerations for living donation. Describe the medical evaluation of the living donor, including assessment of short and long term risks. Identify elements of the Independent Living Donor Advocate Interview. Identify elements of the donor psychosocial assessment. Identify the basic principles related to histocompatibility that apply to living donor transplantation. Discuss required elements to operationalize a living donor program. Identify best practices for living donor follow-up. Discuss new strategies to evaluate long term donor risk. Discuss the ethical considerations of new and emerging concepts within living donation. Discuss required elements to maximize living donor opportunities through paired exchange. Liver Track Discuss recipient and donor selection for successful living donor liver transplant (LDLT). Discuss improving care of the live donor. Describe ethical considerations for live donor selection. Discuss the necessary resources for a liver program including new liver policies.
