3 Winding Down: Understanding How To Get A Good Night s Sleep Thursday, January 17, :00-2:30 p.m. Americans of all ages are struggling to get enough sleep. The CDC reports that 35 percent of adults are not getting the recommended seven hours of sleep each night. Those who sleep less are more likely to report chronic health conditions like heart attacks, cancer and diabetes. What s keeping us up at night? UCLA Health s Dr. Nancy Tsoi discusses the causes of sleeplessness and how sleep hygiene can help you slumber longer. The presentation is free but reservations are required. Please call (805) or stop by the main desk to sign up. When Medical Decisions Matter Most Tuesday, January 29, :30-3:00 p.m. Although planning end-of-life care can feel uncomfortable, it is very important. By deciding what end-of-life care best suits your needs when you are healthy, you can help those close to you make the right choices when the time comes. This not only respects your values, but also may give loved ones comfort. Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association will give a free presentation on end-of-life issues. Learn how to share your choices in a way that may be helpful for your family and those you love and learn the difference between an Advance Directive and Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) documents. Call (805) for reservations or stop by the main desk to sign up.
