BOX 4149 HALFMOON, NY (518) / MAR / APR 2014 COMMANDERS MESSAGE By now most of us have realized that our Door Cards are still ON for members who have paid their dues. Beginning Feb 1st, if you were NOT paid, you may have a problem getting entry to the Post. If you have not paid yet, please do so ASAP!! Super Bowl has passed. Not as exciting as last year, but a good time was still enjoyed by all who attended the party. I d like to personally thank Gil, Ron, Jimmy-V and all the other volunteers who made this another special & really fun day!! Although Football may have come to an end, rest assured that we have still plenty of ventures to get us through another year. To start with, we have Bingo every Monday, the Sons Chicken-BBQ, Beach Karaoke, & the Sons even have an Easter Egg Hunt for the Kiddies!! Plus, Team-Trivia with the Quiz Master & his Trivia-Elves from 7-9 on the last Wednesday & middle Friday of the month & -Appreciation Hour in the bar from 2-3 PM every Sunday thru June!! ** Please come join the fun and remember to bring up to 6 guests with you so that they can see a good time at the Post. Please Note that we are always looking for new members!! Plus, it won t be long till another Baseball season will be starting up again, which is enjoyed by so many who are always trying to figure out which is the better team... The Sox or Yankees, who will it be this year??? To the many of you who are already pitching in to help with all the chores around the Post, THANKS!!!! Please know that All you do IS being noticed & IS Greatly Appreciated!!!!! And Hey, EVERYONE is cordially invited to Volunteer for a few hours to enjoy all the Fun & Camaraderie at our Spring Kitchen Clean-Up in April!! Unfortunately, we endured the loss of 41 members from our Post during the 2013 year. This should remind as all to cherish every moment we have with family & friends. 2 AUXILIARY NEWS HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICAN LEGION! The Legion Auxiliary will once again be hosting the Legion birthday party on Saturday, March 15 th from 6 10 PM in the lounge. It will be a potluck event with a DJ. If you are able to make a dish please contact Jamie Williams at As for membership, we re currently at 85% and still need everyone looking for more people to renew &/Or join in order to meet our goal. Check the Bulletin Board at the Post for Info about the Auxiliary Legion College of NY which is a full weekend of intensive learning about the Auxiliary to be held June 6-8 at Cazenovia College - -&- - the MILITARY TEEN CAMP which is a week-long outdoor adventure Camp to be held from July at 4-H Camp Wabasso in Redwood, NY. These scholarships are awarded for American Studies. Listed below are the 4 (Four) ways to Qualify: 1. Shenendehowa High School Senior who is a U.S. Citizen. ** One $1,000 & One $500 Scholarship available. 2. Shenendehowa High School Senior who is the Child or Grandchild of a Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. ** One $1,000 & One $500 Scholarship available. 3. Any High School Senior outside the Shenendehowa School District who is the Child or Grandchild of a in Good-Standing of Post-1450, Auxiliary Unit- 1450, or SAL Squadron **One $1,000 Scholarship. 4. A in Good-Standing of SAL Squadron-1450 who is a graduating Senior from any High School District. ** One $1,000 Scholarship available. ** Applications are available in the Shenendehowa High School Guidance Dept. and at Post-1450 upon request. ** Completed application Packages must be received At the Post >> No Later Than April 15 th. > > Grading Criteria includes: American Studies, Academic Records & Standing, Extracurricular Activities, and Community Service involvement. ** Best of Luck in advance to All Applicants!!!
