1 From Commander Steve Jackson From Auxiliary President Chrissy Padovano Summer is upon us, the time of year when everyone vacations. Hope you all have a safe and fun summer. Are you all ready for another exciting year with the Auxiliary. I would like to thank everyone who went to the district meeting. The elections went well. Eileen Piekarski is the District Secretary, Kathy Enriquez is the District Chaplin, and Betsy Klitch is the District Conductress. Please congratulate them if and when you see them. I would like to thank everyone that helped to make the Memorial Day picnic a success. I really do appreciate all that you do. Fun was had by all. On June 6pm we will be having the Commander and President dinner. We will start with the Installation of Officers and then we will have dinner following the installation. All officers that are being installed please have your uniform. The Auxiliary luncheon has been changed to September 15th. More information to follow as we get closer. We are looking for volunteers for the Vietnam luncheon on August 18th. Please if you are here we would appreciate your help. This is my last input to the monthly newsletter. Thank you to all the Post Officers, appointees and volunteers who have supported me for the last 2 years. We have accomplished a lot but there is still much to be done. I hope that you will continue to support the new Post Commander; Keith Tremblay. He is a dedicated member but cannot do it alone. Thank you to the Auxiliary for your continued support over the past 2 years. I realize that at times the task has been difficult but you stuck to your charter and I appreciate all your efforts. We must all remember if it wasn't for the Auxiliary we would have closed our doors long ago. Despite the Post being open to the public, it is managed by the membership. If you are a Post member and have a suggestion on how to improve the Post, put it Here are your officers in writing and drop it in the mail slot on the President - Christine Padovano Commander's door. 3 On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, we will accept nothing less than full victory. More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day s end, the Allies gained a foot-hold in Continental Europe. The cost in lives on D-Day was high. More than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 Soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe, to defeat Adolf Hitler s crack troops. Thank you to the members of the Post and Auxiliary who volunteered to help with the Memorial Day Picnic. Thanks to your hard work and long hours the picnic was a great success. Steve
