2 CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION Welcome to the 3 rd annual conference, Family Centered Approach for Children of Addicted Parents, presented by the Collaborative for Children of Addicted Parents, GLAD House, and. This year s conference will focus on medical and neurodevelopmental issues, childcare, preschool and school issues, family placement, protective services and court involvement, and prevention measures through a family centered approach. Through these discussions, we hope as a community to support the family structure (biological or other) for every child affected by parental addiction, thereby, halting the intergenerational cycle of addiction. CONFERENCE GOALS Discuss the neurodevelopmental outcomes of in utero opioid exposure Discuss the psychosocial and mental health aspects of living with parents affected by a substance use disorder Discuss the educational issues of children affected by parental substance use disorder Describe the fundamental components of the integration of Children s Services and the court system as it relates to cases of child neglect and/or abuse.
