2 Education INTERNAL APPLICATIONS ONLY Macmillan Project Manager hours per week // Fixed Term until 30 th September 2018 Indicative Band 8a Based at Trust HQ, Exeter The Trust are delighted to be working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to support the delivery of person centred coordinated care project for people affected by cancer in the South West. This pioneering national pilot project involves a team of 3 highly trained and experienced Cancer Care Development Facilitators to deliver three core objectives over the 3 year project period. An exciting 30 month opportunity has arisen for a 0.5 WTE band 8a, experienced project manager to support the delivery of this exciting new initiative. The post holder will have significant experience in project management, including management of risk and project evaluation. They must be a registered clinician with excellent interpersonal skills, who is innovative and passionate to improve the delivery of cancer care and long term conditions. The project manager will be required to manage the CCF team, manage project delivery deadlines and key milestones, manage the budget and report to the project steering group and board. There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to travel and be away from home on occasions. 3 Medical 111 Clinical Advisors Band 6 plus UCS unsocial Based at Devon 111 Are you looking for a new challenge that will develop your expert clinical assessment skills in a unique way? South Western Ambulance Service are seeking qualified Nurses, Paramedics, Advanced Paramedics and Advanced Nurse Practitioners to join our 111 Clinical Hub at Trust HQ in Exeter. Joining our 111 service as a Clinician will provide you with a great opportunity to make a real difference by working for an organisation that is dedicated to delivering safe, responsive and patient focused service to people requiring healthcare advice and assistance. There are full and part time posts available, shift patterns cover 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. We aim to ensure that our clinical rota supports a good work, life balance and meets the needs of the service. Our Clinical Advisors work collaboratively across all areas of the Trust whilst mainly focusing their attention on our Urgent Care Services. The role also involves the support of non-clinical staff and will also see you working autonomously to deliver safe and effective patient focused care. Working alongside other clinical professionals, you will have the opportunity to develop your current skills, with the support of a national clinical assessment tool. 4 Governance INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY Health, Safety and Security Trainee Band 5 Based in Taunton This position will give the successful post holder the opportunity to develop and progress into a Health, Safety and Security Officer within 18 months following completion and successfully passing the NEBOSH General certificate and having completed 1 year s work experience post completion of the NEBOSH general certificate. The post holder must also be prepared to become an Affiliated member of IOSH progressing to Technical Member (TechIOSH) on completion and successfully passing of the NEBOSH General certificate. Responsibilities will including providing advice, guidance and instruction on health and safety and security management matters to all Trust employees to ensure the Trust minimises risk, meets its statutory obligations and achieves high safety and security standards. They would also need to develop and implement programmes of work to ensure that all health and safety, and security management requirements are managed across the Trust. 6 Medical Clinical Supervisor Band 6 Based at West Clinical Hub, Exeter We are currently looking to appoint Nurses/Paramedics to increase our Clinical Supervisor team in our 999 control room to be based in our West Clinical Hub, in Exeter. Our Clinical Supervisors provide clinical advice and assistance to Control Staff as necessary. They monitor the quality of emergency call categorisation and make interventions across the whole spectrum of health and social care to direct callers to the most appropriate care. You will provide clinical support and advice to Emergency Medical Advisors, and members of Control. You will also provide clinical advice to callers as appropriate. Applicants must be a registered Paramedic, Nurse or other appropriate healthcare professional, with a broad general experience as a qualified professional. 7 Delivery OOH Triage Clinicians Band 6 Based at East Clinical Hub, Dorset An opportunity has arisen within South Western Ambulance Service for part-time Triage Clinicians based at the East Clinical Hub within the Dorset Out of Hours Service.(OOH) Candidates must currently be registered with either the HCPC (Paramedic) or NMC (Nurse). The successful candidates will be responsible for providing and ensuring a consistently safe, responsive and patient-focused service to those requiring assistance and information from Urgent Care Services for the Trust. They will perform a telephone triage assessment for members of the public directed to OOH via NHS 111. They will manage calls from Healthcare Professionals requesting contact with the OOH G.P s. They will act as the Clinical Lead for the shift whilst on duty, supporting the Supervisors and Dispatchers and offering clinical advice where necessary. They will also be available to work within the Dorset 111 service as directed. 8 Medical Advanced Nurse Practitioner / Emergency Care Practitioner Band 7 Based at Poole and Bournemouth This is a great opportunity for Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Specialist Paramedics with a Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification to work in an interesting and diverse health care setting with a part time permanent contract (8-24hrs a week). You will be working for South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust at either Bournemouth Treatment Center or Poole Emergency Department as part of a primary care stream. Both centers are based in the respective hospitals. Your responsibilities will include seeing, treating and discharging primary care patients in the local treatment centers and/or in the Emergency Department. The shift patterns are: Bournemouth Treatment Centre: at weekends and Bank Holidays or or Poole Emergency Department: ( Primary Care Stream) 13:00-20:00 weekdays and 10:00-22:00 weekends. 9 Education Training Administrator Internal Vacancy Band 3 Based at Derriford, West Division An opportunity has arisen for a Training Administrator in our West Division Training Department, Derriford. You will provide administrative support and co-ordination to the Training Department in conjunction with the requirements of the Head of Professional Development and Education, Training Manager and Tutors. You will ensure a high level of administrative support in the department including booking conferences and accommodation, ordering and processing of all equipment, stationery and provisions. You will also be responsible for the ordering and secure storage of examination papers as well as providing general administrative support as required. You must have RSA Typing Level 3/Word Processing qualification or equivalent, and be educated to NVQ 3 level. You should also have significant experience of working in a busy administrative environment. 10 Training and Education Learning and Development Officer Band 7 plus 5% unsocial Based in Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Dorset The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties including operational learning and development reviews, and facilitation of classroom delivery. The role will also include the support of organisational need as it arises, for example associated with training needs analysis, return to work and remedial training. The candidate must be able to effectively manage workloads, be proactive and dedicated working both independently and within a team. The successful candidate must have the minimum of a 3 years post registration experience working within an Ambulance Service environment as a Paramedic or Nurse, hold a clinically related degree and preferably studying at post graduate level, along with a teaching qualification preferably PG Cert or equivalent, and preferably driving assessor s qualification. 11 Community Responders Community Responders Voluntary Based in Devon Exciting volunteering opportunities have arisen within South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust for Community First Responders to join the Community First Responder Schemes within the Devon community. We welcome applicants from throughout Devon; however we are particularly interested in people from the following West Devon areas: Tavistock, Horrabridge, Plympton, Plymstock, Princetown, Noss Mayo, South Brent & Bere Alston. Please be aware, if there is not currently a Community First Responder scheme running within a 3 mile radius of your home postcode you may not be short listed. A Community First Responder (CFR) scheme is made up of a group of trained volunteers who within the community in which they live or work attend emergency calls on behalf of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to provide patient care, including basic life support, until the arrival of an emergency ambulance. As a volunteer and a member of a Community First Responder Scheme you would provide this community based service willingly and without pay. This role is highly rewarding and offers opportunities to meet new people and learn valuable lifesaving skills through the training provided by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants will have a good all round education; a full clean driving license held for at least one year, with no more than 3 current penalty points and has a vehicle with current tax, MOT and insurance for your use. 12 Delivery Lead Paramedic INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY Ring-fenced to existing Dartmouth Paramedics Band 5 plus 500 pa Based at Dartmouth An exciting opportunity has arisen within South Western Ambulance Service for a full time Lead Paramedic based at Dartmouth Station. The successful candidate will support the Operations Manager (OM) and Operations Officer (OO) in the day to day management of the Operational Base with particular responsibilities for the administrative arrangements of the base. They will assist the OO and OM in ensuring that operational personnel carry out their duties in accordance with Trust policy, service instructions and to the standards of conduct and performance defined in the Institute of Health and Care Development (IHCD) Ambulance Service Basic Training Manual/ IHCD Paramedic Training Manual, out-of-hospital care guidelines published by Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee (JRCALC), and Trust Clinical Notices. They will promote and establish a healthy and safe working environment, ensuring health and safety policies are complied with particularly those relating to accident reporting and investigation procedures. Ensure health and safety checks are actioned in line with agreed recommendations and timescales and ensure that appropriate standards of cleanliness of vehicles and equipment are maintained, as agreed with the OM. The successful candidate will assist with the induction of new staff, ensuring that they are aware of all necessary procedures, policies and information in order to carry out their role effectively. They will assist the OM and OO with the setting up and maintenance of local systems and controls to ensure that time sheets, annual leave, sickness records, travel claims etc are correct and appropriately authorised. 13 Audit and Research Clinical Information and Records Assistant 12 months FTC Band 3 Based at Trust HQ, Exeter An exciting opportunity has arisen within South Western Ambulance Service for a full time Clinical Information and Records Assistant to be based at our Trust Headquarters in Exeter. This is for a 12 months fixed term contract. The successful candidate will receive and process and validate clinical records and associated information. They will conduct data and record quality checks on the Trust s Electronic Care System, reporting findings to relevant ambulance clinicians, managers and other staff and, where appropriate, escalating issues to the Clinical Information Systems Manager. They will collate, input and retrieve clinical information for national quality reporting, clinical audit, research and service planning. The successful candidate will be required to have a GCSE in English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or above, or an equivalent qualification. They will also need to have at least 1 year s administrative experience, which should include a familiarity with databases. 14 Delivery Operations Coordinator - Bournemouth Band 3 Based at Bournemouth Ambulance Station An opportunity has arisen for a full time Operations Coordinator that will provide admin support to the Operations Manager, who manages the A&E Staff in Dorset. In this role you will be expected to use you data inputting skills to assist the coordination of staff appraisals, mandatory training and driving licence checks. This enables you to use your attention to detail skills to ensure accurate records are kept. You will also be using your coordination skills for complete return to work meetings, sickness reviews and employee relations investigations working alongside the HR Business Partners. 15 Governance Safeguarding Referral Assistant 30 Hours per Week Band 3 Based at Trust HQ, Exeter An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen within the trusts safeguarding service. The post is essential to the team, as the main function of the role is to support the safeguarding referral process. Currently 1000 safeguarding referrals are processed in any one month which requires liaison with outside agencies including Police, Social Care, Fire and all Health colleagues. This is a demanding role which requires the successful candidate to be flexible, able to prioritise any high risk situations, to possess excellent IT skills, have excellent communication skills and be able to see their role as a trust wide relationship building role. The postholder will be based in Exeter but will be part of the wider team who are based in the North and West of the Trust and will therefore be prepared to travel, on occasions to attend relevant meetings. South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is seeking compassionate, caring and committed individuals to use advanced driving skills and provide support to our dedicated team of Paramedics attending accidents and sudden illnesses. If you re looking to make the most of your life skills in a challenging but extremely rewarding environment and are willing to work shifts, this could be the ideal opportunity for you. You will need a full, clean driving licence, including C1 category and GCSE English and Math s at grades A-C, or equivalent qualification/functional skills certificate. On offer of employment, SWASFT will provide you with comprehensive clinical training and driver training to prepare you for the role of ECA. Subject to passing this training, you will then commence fulltime employment for the Trust. We do not currently require applications for the Devon/Cornwall region. The Role As an Emergency Care Assistant you will attend cases of accident and sudden illness and respond to urgent, special and planned patient transfer requests.you will use advanced driving skills under blue light and normal traffic conditions to respond to emergency and routine calls as required. You will be required to assist a qualified practitioner to support the provision of high quality and effective clinical, personal, social and holistic care to patients.
