2 What s New? Dear Colleagues, We are very excited to announce the Southeast region s first-ever Leadership Conference! Built on the combined foundation of 50-plus Administrative Conferences and three Board Leadership Conferences, this conference affords the perfect opportunity to begin to align the region with the Movement s new 5- year agenda Impact Last November, your Area Council Leadership convened to create this combined conference, incorporating recommendations from the field, from Area Council meetings and from the Professional Advisory Committee. Professional Staff oriented sessions, workshops and trainings begin on Monday and will continue on until Friday. Board oriented sessions will begin with the Leadership Luncheon on Wednesday and carry through until the conference conclusion on Friday. Please share this information with your entire board, your professional staff in all departments from development, human resources and finance as this combined conference offers real value to every level of the Movement. 3 Pre-Conference Workshops Specialty Tracks By Invitation Only New Executive Orientation (Participants pre-selected) Cost: $150 The New Executive Orientation is required for first time Executive Directors. This orientation will focus on the key areas of Boys & Girls Club operations and will prove to be invaluable to the new Executive. Starts Sunday February 17 th with Dinner and keynote address; Monday 8am-5pm; Tuesday 8am-5:00 p.m.; Wednesday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Thursday 8:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. Advanced Executives Leadership Program (by Invitation only) Cost: $ Workshop targeted towards CPOs with 2-6 years in the top job. The AELP will provide tools for creating a strategic plan; building the proper board and staff infrastructure; and other important topics to help get the job done. Starts Sunday February 17th with Dinner and keynote address; Monday 8am-5pm; Tuesday 8am-5:00 p.m.; Wednesday 7:30 a.m.-9:00 am. Management Track II (by Invitation only) Cost: $250 This workshop will position current management professionals who aspire to be Chief Professional Officers with the understanding and application for the essential leadership core competencies needed to lead a Boys & Girls Club organization. Specialty Tracks Professionals Only Human Resources Track Cost: $150 A track for all HR related staff providing opportunities to network, participate in training opportunities such as understanding HR risks, effectively managing performance management, best practices in record keeping, personnel policies, proper coaching, counseling and disciplinary procedures. Starts Monday February 18 th at 1:00 p.m. (dinner on Monday night); Tuesday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Wednesday 8:00 a.m.-12noon. (Professionals Only) Resource Development Track Cost: $150 A track for all RD related staff providing opportunities to network and participate in training opportunities. Sessions may include: Grantsmanship, Special Events; Stewardship, Creating a Strong Development Team; Planned Giving; and Prospect Research. Starts Monday February 18 th at 1:00 p.m. (dinner on Monday night); Tuesday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Wednesday 8:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. (Professionals Only)

4 Specialty Tracks Volunteer (Starts Wednesday) Board Volunteer Track This forum is intended to present new ideas through formal and informal learning opportunities to ensure the growth and sustainability of your local Clubs. Sessions include: Chief Volunteer Officer Academy; It Just Takes One A Board Member s Perspective; Standards of Service; Closing the Gift Competition; Legal Issues Affecting Fundraising for Non-Profits and Cultivation & Stewardship: Engaging your Donors for Future Giving. Wednesday February 20th, 11:30 am Friday, 12:00 pm Senior Leadership Symposium (Designed for Operations and Unit Directors) A specialized training opportunity for senior managers that will include topics such as: maximizing board fundraising; unit board recruitment and engagement; employment law and safety. Starts Monday February 18th at 1:00 p.m. (dinner on Monday night); Tuesday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.; Wednesday 8:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. Building a Teen Program A comprehensive look at developing and implementing a great Teen program. It will include recruitment of teens, marketing the program, facility design and most importantly, meeting the needs of this population. Full day training Tuesday, February 18th. All Conference Participants QuickBooks Training Cost: $100 Full day Training. Learn the secrets of how to use QuickBooks for your organization. Learn how to create reports for: Board members; tax agencies and your donors. How to handle: tracking grants, dues and pledges; In-kind contributions; Capital campaigns; Grant tracking and more.
