On Wednesday, August 30, the ORHS Principals; Associate Principals; Lead Counselor, Mamie Prejean; and Athletic Director, Dereck Rush, met at 8:30am to make plans to help our community. At 9:24am the call went out for food, supplies and volunteers. By 11:00am, the 9 th Grade Campus Cafeteria was buzzing with volunteers, to gather and organize the food and supplies that were already being dropped off! On Thursday, August 31, our Oak Ridge Family was able to pass out food and supplies to more than 300 families in our community who were hit by Hurricane Harvey. Way to go Oak Ridge!

All teachers will be available on both the 9 th grade campus and senior campus. Schedules are available on Parent Access. There will also be a senior meeting on that same night in the ORHS Auditorium from 5:30 to 6:30 and a parent training session for Canvas in the MPR from 5:30 to 6:00. Parking will be available in all ORHS lots as well as Oak Ridge Elementary. We look forward to seeing you on the 11 th.

The Principal s Student Correlate is a student committee comprised of several representatives from each grade level on the senior campus who meet with the principal to offer insights and opinions. In addition, the committee serves as a source of discussion regarding issues relevant to students. Committee members are selected from applications based on trying to provide a full range of student perspectives from a variety of student interests and backgrounds. Students are selected for one-year commitments, and must reapply each year. Meetings are held one time each month before school (6:50 A.M.) and last until approximately 7:10 A.M. Applications for Student Correlate are available in the front office or Mr. Johnson s office at this time. They are due back by September 15, Meeting Dates: September 21, October 19, November 16, December 14, January 25, February 15, March 22, April 19 and May 10. Seniors! Seniors do you want to apply for scholarships, but don t know how to get started? The writing center can help! We can help you with scholarship essays and how to submit them. We have a list of scholarship essays and tutors ready to go, so come to C-224 any day during any lunch. PROM May 05, The Woodlands Marriott 8pm - Midnight Mu Alpha Theta! If you like math and are in Algebra 2 or higher, apply to Mu Alpha Theta the math honor society. We will have an informational meeting on Monday, September 11 right after school in the MPR. 5 HOSA! (Health Occupations Students of America) There will be a HOSA meeting on Tuesday, September 12 th at 2:45pm in the MPR. If you are interested in joining the Health Occupations Students of America, please attend this meeting for more information. Senior Checklist Recommendation Letters: (teachers/staff need a minimum of 10 days to write letters) Cap/Gown, and Announcements: HERFF JONES grads@myhjgrad.com *Senior Meeting Fees and Fines: Must be clear Juniors! A representative from Herff Jones will be here on Wednesday, September 13 th to talk to the junior class about their class rings. Information packets will be sent home with each student. Orders will be taken on September 20 th from 11am until 7pm and on September 21st during all lunches. Student Council Meeting! Student Council will hold their first meeting on Thursday, September 14 th at 2:35pm in the MPR. Stop by the table to pick up information about these test or ask any questions that you may have! College visits will begin at ORHS on Monday, September 11th. Check Naviance to see the list of colleges that will be visiting Oak Ridge this fall. Stop by the CCC in B-202 if you have any questions or need help with your Naviance account. School Picture Dates! Hello parents and seniors, we are really excited for this school year, we want to invite you to enjoy the ride and have fun this last year of this beautiful stage of life. 14 Food Deliveries to School! Oak Ridge High School will not accept student lunch deliveries from a restaurant or from a delivery service such as "doordash." The only lunches that are accepted in the front office are those delivered by a parent or a family member. Deliveries to Campus! Students, who have left things at home such as lunch, athletic clothes, homework/projects, etc., should stop by the front office and see if these items have been delivered. No items of this nature will be delivered to the student in the classroom. Deliveries from florist and other outside vendors will not be accepted. Balloon bouquets and floral arrangements are not allowed in the halls or classrooms. Crosswalks! Students! The crosswalk signs are for your protection...please make sure to press the button to engage the signs whenever crossing the street. Thank you. Illegal Parking in Business Lots! Warning! If you are parking in any of the business parking lots around our school area you will be subject to being towed. This includes the restaurants and shopping center with Party City. Towing is very costly for you. Parking at Woodforest is $20.00 for the remainder of this year. Please see Jackie Putnum in room E-202 for Woodforest parking. To report an absence or tardy update! 15 ORHS Attendance Procedures! To report an absence or tardy: On the day of the students absence or tardy a parent or guardian may call the Senior Campus at or orhsattendance@conroeisd.net Call the Ninth Grade Campus at If you do not report the absence or tardy by phone on the day of absence a note from a parent or guardian with a signature will be required. Returning students must take their signed notes to the attendance office before or after school or during their lunch period. All students must get an admit slip from the attendance office before returning to class after being absent. Check In/Out Procedures: All students must sign in and out through the attendance office. If a student driver needs to leave campus, a note including the name, date, time leaving and parent signature and phone number is required. All notes to leave early must be taken to the attendance office the first thing in the morning. All guardians picking students up must present a photo ID upon signing their student out. If a person needs to pick up a student who is not on their pick-up list, the guardian may add them using the Student Pick Up form located in the attendance office. (If the form is not signed at the attendance office, the guardian must have the form notarized). The Emergency Clinic form may not be used for pick up purposes due to HIPPA laws.
