This Week s Announcements April 16, 2018 MAIN MENU * This Week s Announcements * Stevenson News and Information * Junior News and Information * This Week s Events * Teacher Talk * Sophomore News and Information * Senior News and Information * District News and Information End School Violence Week Student Council and other Student Leaders are sponsoring a week of activities to encourage the end of School Violence. Students will be putting pinwheels in memory of those who lost their lives in acts of school violence along Dodge Park. The days are as follows: Monday-Walk UP to End School Violence. Students are encouraged to (and not just Monday): Walk up to a kid who is sitting alone at lunch and invite him or her to join you. Walk up to someone who seems lonely, say hello and strike up a conversation. Walk up to a classmate, make eye contact and really listen to them. Walk up to someone who never seems to smile and tell a joke to make them happy. Walk up to someone you don't know very well and talk to them. Walk up to a teacher or staff member and thank them for what they do. Tuesday- to End School Violence. During lunch, students are encouraged to their politicians with their idea on how to end school violence. Wednesday-Register to Vote so you have a voice. During lunch, students who are 18 should bring picture ID to register to vote. Registering in person allows a student who is going away to school to request absentee ballots.
2 Thursday-Sign the Pledge to End School Violence. During lunch, students will sign banner in cafeteria. Also students can sign up to participate in Friday s event. Friday-Walk in memory of those who died from school violence. Students who signed up will go out to the track and walk it for 17 minutes (1 minute for each person lost in the Parkland Shooting). Students will then take a picture for peace in our schools.
