She will focus on how faith influences our nation. Rochelle is an award-winning newspaper columnist and author of ten books. She will reveal how every American president in history has acknowledged God in an inaugural address. Although our presidents have had varied political visions, they have been united in their conviction that there is a spiritual component to America. A continuous thread of reverence runs through their presidential speeches, letters, proclamations, and memoirs. Rochelle will guide each of us through the sacred dimension of our country s history. Cedarlake s rummage sale is about to take place and everyone can spring into action in cleaning up for the warmer months ahead. Our past sales have been a success with the proceeds going to Cedarlake Cares, our Community Service program. Your donations can be brought to the front office beginning March 7. The rummage sale will be on Tuesday, March 22, at 11:00 a.m. 10:15 a.m.) Drumming for Fun and Therapy Saturday, March 5, at 10:30 a.m. Drumming induces deep relaxation, lowers blood pressure, and reduces stress. Study results demonstrate that drumming is a valuable treatment for fatigue, anxiety and asthma. Drumming promotes the production of endorphins which can help in the control of chronic pain. Richard was born in Chicago to Richard and Elsie. He is one of five children, having three brothers and one sister. Richard lived in Chicago until 1945 where, at the age of 18, he was drafted and served in WWII until He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jane Pedeny, when he returned. They celebrated fifty-five years of marriage and raised a son and a daughter. Richard was a brick-layer for twelve years then decided to return to school at Purdue College to learn metallurgy. Hired by Inland Steel, he had a thirty year career, retiring in Richard s favorite thing to work on was stone work for fireplaces and walls. He states, You can t make a picture without a frame. Richard and Betty Jane moved to Florida and built a home that was thirty feet from the water where he was able to fish every day! He also enjoyed hunting and golf. His love of train travel took him and his wife across Canada through the Canadian Rockies. One of his favorite trips was their 25th wedding anniversary celebration in Hawaii. They enjoyed the islands so much that they visited Paradise two more times. Richard moved to Cedarlake last September from Florida to be close to family. (Three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters!) He enjoys living here because the staff and residents are so friendly.
