What a beautiful time of year. Soon this will pass and we will enter into a beautiful winter wonderland. We are blessed to live in a four season region. I am happy to introduce to you Nancy Churchill, RN, who has accepted the position as Home Care Compliance Manager. She has been a nurse for 28 years; 17 of those years as a nurse manager. Nancy will be taking on the general oversight of our Home Care Department as related to our Comprehensive Care Licensure, along with working hand-in-hand with our excellent nursing department. Please introduce yourself to Nancy and make her feel welcome as part of our Assisted Living Community. 2 Tina Wolford Maintenance/Housekeeping Director As many of you know Bill left Me/Us after 14 years with Epiphany Senior Housing. I talked to him and he said he was enjoying retirement and his new house he and his wife had built in Anoka. We have a new gentleman who will be working with me. His name is Travis. Say HI when you see him. He may be the one that comes to your door if you have put in a work order at the front desk. As always if you need help with your thermostat, call down to the front desk and they will get a hold of Maintenance. The Salon is open Wednesday and Thursdays For appointments call Anita Kottsick Dining Services Manager akittsick@epseniors.org Hi Everyone, I thought I would start introducing you all to dining services staff! Here is a start, left to right; -Whitney started working here in June of this year. Whitney is a senior at CRHS and plans to go to college for physiology. -Rocky started working here September of this year. Rocky is a junior at CRHS and her favorite pass time is shopping! -Jean started working here May of this year. Jean spends much of her time off with her 99 year old independent mother. 3 Sandy Heimer, RN Case Manager Tips for Flu Relief You may have been told to starve a fever and feed a cold but that may not be the best way to get better. Early recognition and treatment of respiratory flu symptoms can help you relieve the most bothersome symptoms. If you have the flu, health experts suggest: 1) Get plenty of rest 2) Drink lots of fluids 3) Keep the air moist 4) Avoid contact with those who have colds or flu 5) Consult your doctor Health experts recommend the flu vaccine for anyone over 65, or anyone with a chronic medial condition such as heart, lung or kidney disease. If symptoms persist for several days or get worse, consult your doctor. 4 Deb Sauer Administrative Coordinator Leasing Agent I just celebrated another year here at Epiphany Assisted Living and have been totally blessed by all the staff, residents and residents family/friends I have met over the years! This is definitely my favorite time of the year. I love the colors, smells, cooler weather, football especially the Vikings and the upcoming holiday celebrations that will be spent with family and friends. Families and friends of our residents: with the holidays coming, please let the front desk know if you will be joining your family member for a holiday meal. Holiday meals are $ Also, if you plan on taking a resident out for the holidays, and therefore they will not be dining with us, please let us know. You will also need to contact the Nursing department at least 72 hours ahead to have their medication ready. Remember, we have the Private Dining table, Community Room, Game Galleria available for your use for get-togethers. Call the front desk at and we will be happy to reserve a room for you. Epiphany Assisted Living is participating in Toys for Joy All toys donated stay in the Anoka County area. All gifts must be new and unwrapped. We will have a Donation Box next to the Christmas tree in the lobby. Drop off your donations from Dec 4th to the 9th. Thank you for your kindness. Dare I say It is almost time to start looking for our winter wear or at least get it out of storage. Mary R. God Has It Figured Out How we react to trials in our life is an individual choice. Instead of thinking, This stinks, I can t believe this happened or that happened. Have the attitude, It s just more fertilizer. God is getting me prepared for something greater. King David said in Psalm 4:1, God enlarged me in my time of distress. He didn t get enlarged when things looked good, he was enlarged in the tough times. So in view of King David's Testimony, you may be facing some situations or challenges in your life today, and don t know how it s going to turn out. That s okay, don't worry. God has it figured out; in the midst of that challenge you can say, God has blessed me, promoted me, protected me. The Bible said in Romans 4:18-21 that Abraham was giving glory to God in the midst of challenges, knowing that God who has made some promises to him can never fail. Psalm 119:89.
