2 Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education 11th Annual Winter Conference IMPLEMENTING CHANGES EFFECTIVELY GENERAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION This conference features timely topics of interest to IAASE members, special education directors and supervisors, and general education administrators. Dates and Times: January 20, 2010 Pre-Conference Workshop (Wednesday) Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Pre-conference workshop is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. January 21 and 22, 2010 Winter Conference (Thursday & Friday) Conference registration and continental breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. each day. Conference presentations begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. each day. Conference Location: Crowne Plaza Springfield 3000 South Dirksen Parkway Springfield, Illinois (217) Crowne Plaza/Holiday Inn Express Reservations: Rate: $95 per night plus tax (Single or Double) Phone: (217) Fax: (217) Please use the 3 letter code IAA when booking guest rooms at the IAASE Winter Conference rate. Hotel reservations must be made by January 5, After this cut-off date, rooms will be subject to availability and the current hotel rate. Pre-Conference Registration Fee: $125 Per Person (Administrators Academy Credit Available) Register early as the pre-conference workshop is limited to 100 participants. The registration fee includes administrators academy credit fee, continental breakfast, working lunch, and materials. (The pre-conference registration fee is not included in the IAASE Winter Conference registration fee.) Winter Conference Registration Fees: $175 FY IAASE Members Only $275 Non-Members $ 50 Full-Time Students Enrolled in Sp. Educ. Administration $ 50 FY IAASE Retired Members The registration deadline is January 14, Remember to register early!! Registration fee includes official programmed events, continental breakfasts, luncheon on Thursday, Social Hour on Thursday evening, conference handouts, and IAASE gifts, too. Dress for the IAASE Winter Conference is casual. Your pre-conference and conference registration fee must accompany your registration form. Please identify any special needs on your registration form or call (618) Conference Cancellation Policy: A $25 cancellation fee will be retained by IAASE for conference cancellations which occur five or more working days prior to the conference. No refunds will be given for cancellations that occur five working days or less prior to the start of the conference. Registrations received but not cancelled will still be subject to the conference fee. Administrators Academy Credit, Administrators Recertification Professional Development Activity Hours, and CPDU Credit for Teacher Certification: Administrators Academy Credit is available for attendees at the Leading with Heart pre-conference workshop on Wednesday, January 20, The IAASE 11th Annual Winter Conference could serve as a possible professional development activity for the required hours for Administrators Recertification. Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs) for the Teacher Certification process will be available at the pre-conference on January 20 th and the Winter Conference on January nd. Annual IAASE Membership: IAASE Membership Dues are renewable each July 1 st. Paid membership prior to or in conjunction with the conference entitles registrants to take advantage of the reduced conference rates for IAASE members. Administrators Academy Credit is available for this workshop. This workshop is designed to increase effective leadership knowledge and skills associated with the principles of Leading with Heart. The workshop provides administrators with the opportunity to review leadership habits and reinvest in developing the leadership skills of their teams. Participants will: Identify and discuss the principles of Leading with Heart Consider scenarios that test the value and potential of the effective application of the principles of Leading with Heart Identify and apply the value and differences between IQ (Intelligence Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient) and SQ (Spiritual Quotient) Explore a mentoring commitment to promote Leading with Heart with one or more colleagues Establish a team to promote continued implementation of Leading with Heart strategies Receive a bibliography of Leading with Heart and related tools and resources Topics will include: the principles of Leading with Heart, rules for being human, how to develop switched on teams, 360 evaluation processes, how to encourage the heart, find time to develop your teams, and resources and activities you can use tomorrow. Register early as this workshop is limited to 100 participants. Participants should be prepared to sign in giving either their social security number or their IEIN number in order to receive Administrator Academy credit.
