Be prepared to be in pits, so dress appropriate, bring clipboards and anything else needed to judge and learn. Designed for all from the person just learning about soils judging to one who has won a state championship. B-3. Meats Fabrication. Blaine Brown, Meat Lab Manager. Purdue Meats Lab. A "hands on workshop" with fabrication of either a beef or pork carcass. Participants will learn how to correctly identify meat cuts. Dress appropriate as you will be in a cooler. Purdue Meats will provide frocks and hairnets. Will prepare you for CDE preparation and classroom lesson plans. Bring clipboard and a writing utensil to this workshop. B-4. Livestock Judging. Matt Claeys, Purdue Livestock Judging Coach. Purdue Animal Science Research and Education Center, 5675 West 600 North, West Lafayette, IN 47906, Sheep and Cattle Unit. A "hands on workshop" about sheep and cattle evaluation. Each participant will get judging cards and will go through a typical practice conducted by Mr. Claeys. You will learn how to handle market lambs and to how to evaluate structure in cattle. Designed for participants from beginning to veteran coaches. Dress appropriately. Bring a clipboard and writing utensil. Purdue will supply the judging cards. 4 2015 Indiana Agriculture Teachers Workshop June 9-11 INDIANA AGRICULTURE TEACHERS WORKSHOP 2015 GENERAL INFORMATION The 2015 Indiana High School Agriculture Teachers Workshop is hosted by the Purdue University College of Agriculture. Costs: Each IAAE member is charged a fee of $90 to cover some workshop expenses. Non- member fee is $180. Workshop participants are responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and expenses. There is a $35 fee for those who cannot attend the workshops but would like to attend the Tuesday night banquet. Teachers retiring this year and their spouses are invited to attend the banquet free of charge. Please indicate your choice on the registration form. Registrants who are unable to attend will be granted refunds upon written request until June 1, Purdue University is not responsible for costs incurred by registrants due to cancellation. Parking: Parking for Thursday on-campus sessions is provided in your registration. You will receive a pass at registration to place on your dashboard. Parking at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel is free. Lodging: Each attendee is responsible for his or her own lodging. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Four Points by Sheraton, 1600 Cumberland Avenue, West Lafayette. A special rate of $103 single or double is available until May 10.
