2 West Virginia Network for Educational Excellence: Key Highlights of Summit NORTH, Session ONE July 16-18, 2018, Morgantown Waterfront by Marriott Hotel Continental breakfasts, lunches and snacks provided at no charge to participants. Monday, July a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (registration/continental breakfast begins at 9 a.m.) Remarks by Dr. Steven L. Paine, State Superintendent of Schools, and Ms. Katlin Thorsell, 2018 West Virginia Teacher of the Year. Sessions include, but are not limited to: the formative assessment process, interim assessments, integrated physical activity. high school practice assessments with the College Board. Leadership Academy (M-F) begins Tuesday, July 17 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (continental breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m.) Keynote: Kathy Shrock who will focus on the integration of technology at the classroom level. Sessions include, but not limited to: standards-focused technology integration for all programmatic levels device management, accessing assistive technologies, emerging technologies standards integration with technology by content area, and developmentally appropriate use of the Technology Integration Matrix. Metametrics, the company that created Lexiles and Quantiles, will share information about using Lexiles and Quantiles instructionally and to share information with families. Wednesday, July 18 8:15 a.m. - 2 p.m. (continental breakfast begins at 7:15 a.m.) Dr. Lou Maynus, Assistant State Superintendent for Teaching and Learning: Engaging Student Learning. Sessions will emphasize performance tasks and collecting evidence of learning. Plenary session: Dr. Maynus and Michele Blatt, Assistant State Superintendent of Schools for Accountability and Support: updates regarding WVBE policies and other pertinent information. Closing session: WV Network of Educational Excellence: Making Data-Driven Decisions to Sustain Standards-Focused Professional Learning. An optional technology playground will be available until 4 pm, where individuals can see some of the most recent technology out there for the classroom. Three hours of graduate credit will be available to participants for completion of Session ONE PLUS additional assignments (to be explained in more detail in the coming months). 2

July 19 and 20 each begin with registration and continental breakfast at 7:30 am. The sessions start at 8:30 am and conclude by 4:30 pm daily.
