Explore the shapes and colors, sights and sounds of Modern Times and play in our own mini metropolis. Studio projects change every two weeks, so make our creative cityscape your stomping grounds all summer long. Michelle Lordi June 8 One of the most sought-after vocalists on the jazz circuit and her band perform three generations of heartfelt love songs. The Mini-Q s June 15 A blend of jazz and funk with Luke Carlos O Reilly on organ, Anwar Marshall on drums, and Ben O Neill on guitar Rob Curto s Forró for All June 22 Rob Curto and his band bring this Brazilian accordion-driven party music to the Museum. Sumi Tonooka July 6 This pianist and composer returns to her Philly roots with a classic jazz piano trio. Christie Dashiell July 13 Popular songs and originals performed by this Billboardcharting jazz vocalist and her quartet. Behn Gillece & Adam Birnbaum July 20 Two sets of original compositions and fiery playing by Gillece on vibraphone and Birnbaum on piano. Farid Barron Aug 3 This current member of the Sun Ra Arkestra brings his trademark sound to ragtime and stride piano melodies of the 1910s. Offered in conjunction with Modern Times Drew Nugent Trio Aug 10 Travel back to the Roaring Twenties with a night of hot jazz classics. Offered in conjunction with Modern Times The Ladybugs Aug 17 This quartet infuses songs from the 1930s with country, blues, Latin, and classical music. Offered in conjunction with Modern Times Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble Aug 24 This ensemble brings us the sounds of 1940s, highlighting classics by Lester Young, Duke Ellington, Dexter Gordon, and more.
