Wabash Ave. All new students, parents, and guests will receive personalized materials for New Student Orientation. You will also be able to pick up your required ARTICard ID. After you receive your laptop you will spend a half hour with our technical staff ensuring that your computer gets set up properly. During this time staff from Campus Life, and Student Financial Services will all be on hand to answer any last minute questions you may have! 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. Be At The Center! The LeRoy Neiman Center 37 S. Wabash Ave. Hosted by Student Programming Board Join the Student Programming Board and New Student Orientation staff at a fun, relaxing social event with other new students. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free food options will be available. SUNDAY, AUGUST 30 8:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. Preview the Modern Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) Modern Wing 159 East Monroe Street The Art Institute of Chicago s Modern Wing will be open exclusively for new students and their guests. The museum will be closed to the general public so that you can take in the galleries as well as the overall art of the building itself. This time is also for anyone who was unable to check in during the designated time on Saturday. If you already checked in on Saturday, you do NOT need to check in again, just be sure to bring all of your materials (including your nametag) with you today.

Join Career Services for a conversation about on and off campus job opportunities, the services this office provides (such as tips on developing resumes, cover letters, and artist statements), and online job search tools, such as SAIC Launch. Making Money Work for You: Budgeting for an Artist Need to figure out how to make your time and money stretch? Learn everything from managing credit cards to budgeting for art supplies and groceries. This session will discuss tips and strategies to budget your time and money wisely in order to be successful as an artist at SAIC and beyond. Libraries & Special Collections Open House Learn about the libraries and special collections oncampus, including the Flaxman and Ryerson Libraries. Also, learn about Special Collections at the school including the Joan Flasch Artists Book Collection, the Video Data Bank, the Roger Brown Study Collection, the Fashion Resource Center, and more! Displaying Your Work: On Campus Gallery Spaces At SAIC SAIC has different options for students interested in displaying your work. This poetic and artistic event will introduce you to Chicago through poetry, music, performance, and spoken word. Join us for this collaborative, variety show performance that will explore the city through the beautiful lens of the artistic eye. This event has been coordinated by SAIC faculty member and well-known Chicago artist, Kevin Coval. OTHER NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION EVENTS IN FALL 2015 SEMESTER! FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 All Day Day Trips With Orientation Leaders and Resident Advisors as your guides you will be able to choose from a wide variety of day trips. Some students may choose to check out a Chicago museum, while others may venture into some of the Chicago neighborhoods for vintage shopping. We will have a number of options to choose from and you can sign up during New Student Orientation with your Orientation Leader. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16 SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17 All Weekend Family Weekend Family Weekend provides families an opportunity to reunite with their students, learn more about SAIC, experience the artmaking and academic process, and explore the city of Chicago. Register Today! Visit our website at to register online. There is a per person registration fee for each parent and guest (excluding your SAIC student), which includes a Friday evening reception, Saturday breakfast and lunch, and two opportunities to participate in classes taught by SAIC faculty. There is no charge for enrolled SAIC students coming with a paid guest. 7
