Monday Night Men s Bible Study to Resume The Men s Bible Study will resume on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. Watch for details! April Church Officer Nominations Nominations are being accepted for new ruling elders and deacons. The Churchwide Nominating Committee will begin meeting in late January to consider nominations for new church officers. Please give prayerful consideration to placing a church member into nomination for the office of elder or deacon. The officer nomination form can be found on our website. Show Up and Serve The Community Service committee invites you to Show Up and Serve on Saturday, January 6, from 10:00 a.m.- noon in the Calvin Building. Let s Do Lunch (making sandwiches for Raleigh Rescue Mission) will begin promptly at 10:00 in C100, and then, in C102, we will make fleece scarves to be delivered to Oak City Outreach. Flight of Imagination Abu Raed is an aging airport janitor who has always yearned to see the world but has never been able to afford to travel. After finding a captain's hat in the trash can, his poor neighborhood s children assume he is a pilot and beg him to share stories of the world outside of Amman, Jordan. Through imaginary tales of his world adventures, he offers hope in the face of their harsh reality. Please join us Wednesday, January 31, at 6:45 p.m. in the chapel as the Middle East Peace and Justice Committee sponsors the film Captain Abu Raed. You Can Help Deliver Healthy Kids Kits to Haiti in March Plans are being made for a four-day trip to Haiti Thursday to Monday, March 8-12, Trip participants will deliver health kits to children who attend Haiti Outreach Ministries four schools. In addition to delivering health kits, we ll share a Bible story with children, learn about healthcare in Haiti, attend church services and enjoy guided cultural tours. Accommodations will be in a comfortable hotel close to the airport. This short trip is ideal for first-time visitors as well as returning visitors. If you are interested in participating, contact Diane Payne at dpaynebhs@earthlink.net or Educator s Fund If you work in the Wake County Public School System, this fund could help you meet an immediate or otherwise not covered need. Food Needed Remember that food is needed in our local pantries. When shopping, pick up a couple of extra cans to place in the crate in The Connector. Canned pasta, canned meat and canned fruit are always needed. The collection this Sunday will help provide grants to hunger agencies in our Presbytery and is one way H E A LT H Y K I D S K I T S f o r H A I T I The goal is to assemble 500-1,000 Healthy Kids Kits before Dec. 31. Currently, we have collected 80 kits. You can fill a one-gallon zip-lock with the items below OR bring multiples of individual items.
