1 TBS TIKKUN OLAM DAY A Day Dedicated to Healing Our World Sunday, April 3, 2016 at The Village Club, 83 Morton St. Needham Join our entire TBS community for a day of social action activities to help make a difference and repair the world! 2 WRAP THEM IN ROSES! CALLING ALL SEWERS Wrap Them In Roses is a sewing project that provides home-made isolette covers for the Level 3 NICUs in Jackson, MS and Boston Children's Hospital. Please come with or without your sewing machine to make these isolette blankets. The Zoe Rose Memorial Foundation provides all the fabrics and simple to follow directions. Minimal sewing skills required. If you can cut, pin or sew, please join us! Older children, teens and adults welcome! If you have pins and/or scissors, please bring them. What is an isolette cover? It is a blanket that is placed over the top of an incubator/isolette to act as a buffer for noise and light. This re-creates a womb-like environment for the babies to grow outside of their mother. We will be baking challah and creating paper flowers and vases to bring cheer to members of our TBS community. 4 CALLING ALL KNITTERS KNIT HATS FOR ISRAELI SOLDIERS If you... Like to knit? Like doing mitzvahs? Like being with friendly people? Come join us in this fun project. The hats will be delivered by Rabbi Jay and our TBS travelers to Israel. 5 NEEDHAM COMMUNITY FARM Time: 9:00-11:00 Meet: Newman Elementary School farm site, 1155 Central Ave., Needham (parking in the few spaces right next to the farm site and in the back elementary school lot) Register: Click here to use the online registration form The Needham Community Farm produces thousands of pounds of fresh, organically grown fruits and vegetables each year for distribution at the Needham Community Council food pantry and four Needham Housing Authority affordable housing sites for low-income individuals and families, seniors, and people with disabilities. The farm also offers educational programs, including a youth program focused on youth-led change in the food system and 14- week organic gardening classes in which students learn to grow their own food in their own garden space at the farm. The classes are offered free of charge to low-income

6 community members, who also receive all needed seeds, seedlings, tools, and support. For Tikkun Olam we will be preparing our Newman site for planting. At the Newman site alone, we grow over a thousand pounds of food each year for families who might not otherwise be able to afford it. Tasks will include clearing straw and debris from the farm beds, loosening the beds with pitchforks, filling wheelbarrows with compost and dumping it on the beds, and smoothing the beds with hoes and rakes. Time allowing, we will also spread wood chips to control weeds in the pathways. Please dress warmly in clothes that can get dirty, and wear waterproof, supportive shoes or boots (if the weather has been wet, boots are preferred as the site can become quite muddy). Please bring your own hats, sunscreen, gloves and full water bottles; there is no drinking water on site. Limited to 12 persons, ages 7 and up. Children between the ages of 7 and 12 must be accompanied by and adult.

7 RIDGE HILL SPRING CLEAN UP Let s help our town get ready for spring! Where: JF&CS 1430 Main Street, Waltham. Who: Individuals or families (kids should be at least 5
