4 Message from the Director, Rose Swidan It s February! We have a lot of fun activities to look forward to around the community and here at the Senior Center this month, like the Super Bowl, Valentine s Day, Black History Month, President s Day, and our favorite, Paczki Day. Remember, we have free transportation services available! We re just a call away and will pick you up to spend the day with us. We have hot lunches, games and activities every day. There are special outings throughout the month for trips to the movies, the casino and lunch out. We have options for a variety of interests and want to see you! Life is too short to stay home. Special reminder that our regular tax services start this month, but please call ahead for an appointment. These services are in high demand and we always fill up our bookings. We are excited this year to partner with two organizations to expand our offerings. Thank you to City Treasurer, Stacy Paige for continuing to lead our Thursday services though the AARP, and to our new partnership with Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency coming on Wednesday, February 14th. Just give us a call for more information. Love, Rose Message from Mayor Burcroff I hope everyone is tolerating these cold temperatures and are happy to know that spring is just around the corner. This month I want to highlight the special community events we have to celebrate Black History. The month kicks off with the free Soul Food Dinner and program on February 6 th at the High School. This is a long-standing tradition and a great time to enjoy food and fellowship. The City will also be hosting their annual Black History Bus Tour on February 17 th. The tour features stops in Romulus that were part of the Underground Railroad and many other interesting facts about our city. Please call my office to reserve your spot for this event because seats are limited. Remember this month is not only about Black History, it s the history and heritage for all of us. We have a busy month planned, I hope you take advantage of all that our city and our Senior Center have to offer. Stay warm and I m sure I will see you soon. As always, my door is open for you with any questions or concerns you may have. Sincerely, LeRoy D. Burcroff, Mayor of Romulus 4 Romulus Senior Communicator 5
