The Cass County Jail provides over 60 hours per week, seven days a week, of faith based, educational and recreational programing.

7 Page 6 Corrections Division - CONTINUED - PROGRAMING Sheriff Laney refuses to just provide a warehouse for people. He strives to give inmates the opportunity to become productive, law abiding citizens upon release. The Cass County Jail provides over 60 hours per week, seven days a week, of faith based, educational and recreational programing. 24/7 SOBRIETY PROGRAM in 2012 Scram Bracelet: 27 Drug Patch: 48 Twice-a-Day Breath Test: 156 INMATE PROJECT HOURS (Volunteer Work) 1,401 hours WORK RELEASE PROGRAM In 2012, 151 inmates were granted work release while residing at the Cass County Jail. Inmates must meet five qualifications in order to be eligible for the Work Release Program: 1. Minimum Security Inmate 2. No Escape Convictions 3. No holds from other Jurisdictions 4. Clean Drug Test 5. Prefer a current, full time and verifiable job Cass County Sheriff s Office has one Clinical Mental Health Coordinator (CMHC). In 2012, over 3,000 individuals booked into the Jail and Juvenile Detention were flagged for a mental health assessment. 2,098 were seen by the CMHC. MENTAL HEALTH

TRUCK REGULATORY In 2012, approximately $13,500 in fines and fees were issued to overweight vehicles on Cass County Roads. In addition to over 52 enforcement hours totaling over 2,000 miles, Deputies also attended numerous public relations events. - Citations Issued: 50 - Warnings Issued: 12 Page 7

9 Field Services Division - CONTINUED NARCOTICS The Cass County Sheriff s Office has two Detectives assigned to the Cass County Drug Task Force which is comprised of the Cass County Sheriff s Office, West Fargo Police Department, ND Parole and Probation and the ND Bureau of Criminal Investigation. INVESTIGATIONS The Cass County Sheriff s Office has three Detectives assigned to Investigations. Throughout 2012 Detectives worked over 227cases. CANINE Canine Ed and handler, Deputy Hermann, participated in over 100 hours of training in 2012 and assisted on numerous narcotic related cases while responding to calls for service in Cass County. TRAINING On average in 2012, each Cass County Deputies completed over 80 hours of annual training to include Active Shooter, Firearms, Defensive Tactics and numerous other courses. SHERIFF S RESERVE UNIT The Sheriff s Reserve Unit consists of 26 volunteers who worked a total of 9,858 hours in CITIZEN S ACADEMY In 2012, 28 participants graduated from Cass County Sheriff s Office 12 week Citizen s Academy bridging the gap between the public and law enforcement. This position encompasses many responsibilities, primarily to coordinate efforts between law enforcement and school personnel, in an effort to maintain a high level of safety and security for children in our region. This position is intended to serve as a continuation of Cass Clay Unified School Response Team, which is a group of schools and law enforcement agencies who have adopted unified emergency response protocols and adapted them to their unique situations. Tara Morris was recruited for this position from outside the Sheriff s Office and was sworn in as a Sergeant on April 2, 2012.
