3 On behalf of the Department of Marine Administration (DMA), Ministry of Transport, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, I am very delighted to warmly welcome you to the World Maritime University Regional Alumni Conference which will be held on 27th 28th January 2015 at Yangon, Myanmar. This is the very first WMU Alumni Conference since the WMU was established in The theme of the conference is WMU Regional Alumni Conference Maritime Education and Training: Catalyst of Industry Growth which is a predominant event to be in line with the 2015 World Maritime Day Theme: Maritime Education and Training. The theme has been endorsed by the IMO Council that was primarily proposed by IMO Secretary-General Koji Sekimizu. practices, but an exceptional occasion to exchange information about the problems that we are individually facing, so as ultimately to develop mutually beneficial capacity-building strategies in order to maintain sustainable development of our maritime industry. Our sincere appreciation and thanks go to World Maritime University and the Nippon Foundation for their pragmatic cooperation as well as their consistent and continual support.
