It provides a general overview and emphasizes a team approach involving government agencies, voluntary agencies, and the media. (8 Hours) The course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills of social media and its uses, as well as the current tools, methods, and models to properly make use of social media for crisis communication. Through the use of social media tools, participants will learn and master skills to disseminate information and monitor, track, measure, and analyze social media traffic. (8 Hours) This course introduces basic policy and programs related to the recovery process. Emphasis is placed on damage assessment and program implementation. (8 Hours) The four hour seminar uses a case study to frame the discussion on ways to overcome leadership challenges in planning and responding to a large scale incident. 9 Post Conference Workshops Continued (subject to change) Course Title Description Target Audience TxETN Overview & Hands-On Training Introduction to CBCAN for New Participants Residential Damage Assessment (G-627) Afternoon Only Texas Public Officials Workshop (G-200) This hands-on course is designed to introduce emergency managers, hospital representatives, and other participating responder organizations involved with evacuation to the tools and capabilities of the Texas Tracking Network or TxETN (based on the All Hazard Response Network system). This course will provide hands-on training for individuals responsible for embarkation/evacuation hub operations, hospital evacuations or other persons responsible for training of these individuals. (4 Hours- AM) This hands-on course is designed to introduce emergency managers, hospital representatives, and other participating responder organizations to the communication tools of the Coastal Bend Coordination & Alert Network (CBCAN) including the responder registry and group communications. This course will provide hands-on training for license holders that have not previously accessed the system and for those with limited experience. (4 Hours- AM) The fundamentals of different types of damage assessments and categories of damage classifications used by the State and the Federal Management Agency. This course is intended for individuals that will actually be conducting residential damage assessments in their community in the aftermath of a storm or catastrophic event. (4 Hours- AM) This course is designed to introduce county judges and commissioners, mayors and city council members, and other elected and appointed officials to emergency management in Texas. This course addresses the legal authorities for emergency management in Texas, the local, state, and federal organization for emergency management, the local emergency management functions, and the local responsibilities during the four phases of emergency management. We will show you different ways to complete your projects by using contractors, force account labor and equipment and using materials. FEMA forms will also be discussed.
