10 Courts Division SECURITY SCREENING All persons who enter the Courts Complex buildings are subject to security screening checks, which include: X-Ray of all packages, and Metal Detectors and Hand Scanning of individuals. K9 Explosive Dogs routinely search the complex each morning to ensure the safety and security of all Employees and visitors in each of the Courts Complex Buildings.
11 Courts Division PRISONER TRANSPORTATON Sheriff s Officer s routinely transport Adult & Juvenile defendants from our various county detention facilities to our courts, other court jurisdictions and detention facilities, and various programs as mandated by the courts. Special escort teams safely move these prisoner s each day.

13 Courts Division Sheriff s Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) Sheriff s Officer s trained in Special Weapons & Tactics to respond to an Active Shooter or Hostage situation that might occur in the courts complex, or deployed for highrisk entries
14 Courts Division Human Services Building Detail The Human Services building houses several county and state agencies, including the Board of Social Services. The sheriff s officers who man this detail, report to the Chief Sheriff s Officer, who also supervises the Courts Division. Two sheriff s officers provide security for this building, and handle investigations and make arrests when necessary.
15 Community Policing Unit Community Policing Unit Sheriff s Officers perform patrols of county facilities, and further support municipal patrol officer s in towns where county facilities are located, and those towns that request supplemental patrol officers. Community Policing Officers also assist municipalities with community events and special operations, and conduct Speed Enforcement from funding provided by the State for these initiatives.
16 Warrant Unit The Sheriff s Warrant Unit is broken down into different sections that work together to locate and apprehend fugitives from justice and any child support violators for whom a civil warrant has been issued. The unit is supervised by a detective sergeant, who oversees the Fugitive and Child Support Units.
17 Warrant Unit Additionally, a detective is assigned to the unit, who serves as the department training officer, and also supports the efforts of the warrant unit and their functions.
18 Child Support Unit The Sheriff s Office Child Support Unit detectives are responsible for serving civil warrants issued by a Superior Court Judge for parents who fail to pay Child Support judgments. Parents arrested on Child Support Warrants are often lodged in the Burlington County Jail, with other individuals arrested on Criminal Charges, even though these warrants are civil in nature. NJ State Law allow Sheriff s Detectives to place metal boots on vehicles of delinquent parents who fail to pay child support payments ordered by the courts. An orange sticker is placed on the window to warn the driver the vehicle cannot be driven
19 Fugitive Unit Over 900 Fugitives from Justice are wanted in Burlington County Annually The Fugitive Unit works with local, state and federal agencies throughout the country to locate and apprehend those wanted by Burlington County. The Fugitive Unit also apprehends individuals wanted from other jurisdictions who may be living in Burlington County. Fugitive Unit detectives are part of the NY/NJ US Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, rounding up fugitives throughout the state of New Jersey. Unit detectives also serve all restraining orders involving the seizure of weapons. Most defendants are lodged in the Burlington County Jail, which is located adjacent to the Sheriff s Department and Courts Facility.
20 K-9 (Canine) Unit EXPLOSIVE DETECTION Two K-9 explosive detection dogs are utilized to sweep the Courts Facility on a regular basis for possible explosive devices. Our Explosive K-9 Dog Handlers are part of the state-wide Detect and Render Safe K-9 Task Force, overseen by the New Jersey State Police. The K-9 officers and their K-9 partners are often called upon to respond throughout New Jersey at a moment s notice, to assist any police agency in locating and removing explosive devices that may be found in their jurisdiction.
21 K-9 (Canine) Unit EXPLOSIVE DETECTION K-9 Explosive dogs have to train under all types of conditions, on land and on water. Each K-9 dog must undergo constant discipline training, which is conducted by the New Jersey State Police. Det. Monica Clark and her new K-9 explosive detection dog Scottie joined the team on June 29 th, Det. Clark and Scottie will support routine screening, as well as serve on the State Police Render Safe K-9 Task Force
22 Internal Affairs Unit The Sheriff s Internal Affairs Unit is staffed by a detective lieutenant & detective, who are tasked in accepting and investigating any police misconduct complaints that may be reported by the public against a swornmember of the Sheriff s Department. Each allegation is thoroughly and impartially investigated, and the results of the investigation are forwarded to the Sheriff for appropriate action. To report a complaint call:

24 Traffic Safety Programs Through grant funding provided by the Division of Highway & Traffic Safety, and in coordination with the Burlington County Traffic Safety Committee, a number of projects are conducted including: BICYCLE SAFETY INCLUDING ID STICKERS & FREE HELMETS CHILD SAFETY SEAT INSPECTIONS CROSSING GUARD TRAINING DEFENSIVE DRIVING TRAINING PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS SPEED ENFORCEMENT
25 Bicycle Safety Training Sheriff s Officers provide children with bicycle safety tips and inspect their bicycles to ensure that our children are operating safe bicycles when traveling on or near roadways. Children are provided safety reflectors and bicycle helmets to further keep them safe.
26 Crossing Guard Training Municipal crossing guards from any community are offered free training classes to ensure that our children are safe when going to and from school.
27 Child Safety Seat Team FIRST STEP, FOR PEACE OF MIND, BUCKLE UP EVERY TIME. FACTS Motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of unintentional injuryrelated deaths among children ages 14 and under. More than 1,800 child occupants ages 14 and under die every year, and an estimated 280,000 children suffer injuries. As of December 1, 2001, New Jersey s child passenger safety law requires: Children up to the age 8 or 80 pounds must ride in a safety or booster seat in the rear seat. Booster seats are only recommended for use with lap-shoulder belts. Children under age 8 who weigh more than 80 pounds must wear a seat belt anywhere in the vehicle. Passengers from age 8 to 18 (regardless of weight) must wear a seat belt anywhere inside a vehicle.
28 Child Safety Seat Team FIRST STEP, FOR PEACE OF MIND, BUCKLE UP EVERY TIME. The Sheriff s Department has Dedicated State Certified Technicians to inspect your child safety seat. We check all seats for unsafe seats and recalls. Free Inspections are done by appointment during the week at the Burlington County Courts Complex by calling Scheduled Checkpoints are held around Burlington County during the year. CSS Technicians Melissa Ondusko and Bob Cragg demonstrate the proper way to install a Child Safety Seat to a new mother.
29 Child Safety Seat Team FIRST STEP, FOR PEACE OF MIND, BUCKLE UP EVERY TIME. Throughout the year, Child Safety Seat Checkpoints are held througout the county, usually on Saturday s and in some cases on Sundays from approximately 10am to 2pm. Teams of trained CSS Technicians will examine the family vehicle and show parents how to properly install their child safety seat or booster seat in a safe and secure position. Sheriff s Child Safety Seat Van
30 Defensive Driving Course The Sheriff s Department provides certified instructor s that teach this state recognized course on driver s safety, sponsored by the National Safety Council. The course is taught approximately two times per month from 8:30am to 3:30pm, and provides a 5% insurance deduction and/or 2-points off your driver s license. The Sheriff s Department also teaches the DDC to all County Employees who are authorized to operate county vehicles, to further ensure driver safety.
31 Veteran ID Cards The Sheriff s Department and Veteran s Services Office have partnered to provide Burlington County veterans with free Veteran ID Cards. These cards identify veterans who have served honorable in our armed forces. The cards provide veterans the ability to receive discounts or benefits offered by stores and restaurants. Many establishments offer 10% or more in discounts to our vets, who have had to carry their DD214 discharge document to prove their veteran status. Cards are provided at the Sheriff s Department by appointment M-F from 9am to 5pm, and at the County Store located in the Moorestown Mall (behind Sears) the last Wednesday of each month. (Senior ID cards are also provided on the same day)
32 Child Fingerprinting Program The Sheriff s Department offers an Emergency Child Identification booklet to parents, that contains important descriptive information, a photograph and fingerprints that may be needed to identify a missing or abducted child. Sheriff s staff work with school districts, child daycare facilities and at community events to provide this important fingerprinting service to help keep our children safe.
33 Youth Police Academy The Sheriff's Department runs a Youth Police Academy during the year on 3-consecutive Saturday mornings, and at other times upon the request of a sponsoring organization. Topics to include: Police K-9 Gun Safety Fire Safety Avoiding Abduction Cultural Diversity and MUCH MORE
34 Safety With Strangers The Sheriff s Department conducts Safety with Strangers talks for any children s group or school that requests this service. The department also provides a Safety With Strangers coloring and puzzle book for young children.
35 Annual Holiday Toy Drive For the past 12 years, the Sheriff s Community Service Unit, with assistance from the Senior Services Unit and Civil Process Unit, coordinated this drive by setting up 61 different drop-off points throughout the county, and by contacting and arranging with the agencies to pick up and distribute the toys. The Office of Consumer Affairs checks all the toys for safety. Human Service organizations listed below distribute these toys to needy children throughout Burlington County: *Division of Youth & Family Services * Servicios Latinos *Foster & Adoptive Family Services * Amity House * Center of Love, Enlightenment & Healing *Sisterhood Family Services, Aspire Youth Program *Faith Chapel Zion Church
36 Senior Services Annual Senior Expo Home Security Program Med-Info Packets Persons-At-Risk Registry Project Lifesaver Program Senior Cell Phones Senior Citizen Police Academy Senior Photo ID Cards TRIAD Calendars Veteran ID Cards
37 Project Lifesaver The Sheriff s Department has joined Project Lifesaver along with numerous other Law Enforcement Agencies across the country. This project is for locating missing persons, providing safety through a proven, rapid response system with the most practical, affordable and successful solution for bringing loved ones home and peace of mind to the care givers. Special radio transmitters located inside a secure wristband are placed on Alzheimer s patients, Autism patients and any other person who may be in risk of wandering away from home, and unable to return safely. Sheriff s Department has partnered with the Chesterfield, Bordentown Twp., Burlington Twp., Mansfield, Palmyra and Mt. Laurel Police Departments to provide 24/7 response to track and locate those reported missing persons with special radio detection equipment. Project Lifesaver wristband shown
38 Persons-At-Risk Registry Eleven years ago, the Burlington County Sheriff's Department joined with the County Office on Aging and the Burlington County Police Chief's Association to form TRIAD, which coordinates crime prevention and other services for senior citizens. As part of this initiative, we have instituted a PERSONS AT RISK REGISTRY which will become a tool for law enforcement officers to identify persons with Alzheimers, mental disabilities, autism or other conditions that may cause them to wander from their home and be unable to return safely to their home.
39 Senior Police Academy A six (6) week informational program on various crime prevention and law enforcement topics is provided for county senior citizens. For more information regarding upcoming classes, call
40 Annual Senior Expo State and local agencies that provide services for seniors, participate yearly in an information fair. Free food and prizes are provided to visiting seniors. The 2014 (Fifteenth) Annual Senior Expo will be held at the Masonic Home, Fellowship Center in Burlington on May 21 st from 10am to 2pm.
41 Senior Photo ID Cards With security so important today, Senior s are provided with a color Photo ID card that is necessary to travel, and also provides emergency medical and contact information. Senior Groups may schedule the Sheriff s Department to come out to their monthly Group Meeting to have Senior ID Cards made on location.
42 TRIAD Calendars Each year, 12-month calendars are provided to Senior s (and senior groups) that include important information and contacts available to all senior citizens in Burlington County.
43 Home Security Program To provide increased security for senior citizen s homes located in the County of Burlington Crime Prevention Specialists are available to give Home Security Workshops and Presentations to clubs, churches, various civic and community groups. Sheriff Stanfield will also provide security handouts and booklets to any Burlington County Resident upon request. 44 Home Security Program To provide increased security for senior citizen s homes located in the County of Burlington Crime Prevention Specialists will make an appointment to come out to a seniors home and conduct a free home security review and make recommendations how to better secure their home. Our specialist will then install at no charge any of the below listed security items and instruct the senior on their use and operation Free Emergency Lights Free Installation of Locks Free Installation of Door Viewers Free Reflective House Numbers Free Med-Info Packet Free Carbon Monoxide Detectors

46 Med-Info Program A comprehensive medical history form, along with special stickers and magnets are provided to seniors, that provide emergency first responders with vital medical information to treat seniors with extensive medical histories.
47 Senior Cell Phone Program The Burlington County Sheriff s Department in cooperation with the Burlington County TRIAD has instituted the Senior Citizen s Emergency Cell Phone Program. The Sheriff s Department solicits donations of used working cell phones from the public, that are no longer in use or under contract with a cellular service provider.
48 Safety Gunlock Program The Burlington County Sheriff s Department offers FREE gun locks to any citizen in Burlington County. These locks are cable gun locks that will prevent your firearm from being accidentally discharged by a child or unauthorized person. All firearms not in use should be unloaded and locked in a secure location to prevent any tragic accidents from occurring.
49 Medical Exemption Cards The Sheriff s Department provides temporary Medical Exemption Cards for frequent visitors or employees who may have a medical condition that requires special security screening.
50 Attorney ID Cards The Sheriff s Department provides the new State Attorney ID Cards to all licensed Attorney s-at-law. These ID cards provide a rapid means for Sheriff s Officer s to identify attorney s entering any courthouse in New Jersey. Applications may be submitted through the Burlington County Bar Association, 137 High Street, Mount Holly. A $25 fee for a 5-year card is required.
