1 Kern County Water Agency Maintenance Worker/ Maintenance Mechanic I/II/Journeyman Mechanic $37,922-$60,616 Annually $1,459-$2,331 Biweekly The Kern County Water Agency (Agency) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Worker/Maintenance Mechanic I/II/Journeyman Mechanic. This position will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair duties affecting the efficient operations of Agency water pumping, conveyance and purification facilities and groundwater recovery facilities. Maintenance Worker Qualifications Include: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate. Valid California driver license. Demonstrated ability to perform confined space activities. Requisite reading, mathematical, written and oral language skills to perform the essential functions of the job. In addition, Maintenance Mechanic I/II/Journeyman Mechanic Qualifications Include: Two (2) years of eperience in industrial repair, maintenance, construction or installation for the I level; three (3) years of eperience in industrial repair, maintenance, construction or installation for the II level; and five (5) years of eperience in industrial repair, maintenance, construction or installation for the Journeyman level. Strong technical and mechanical knowledge. Demonstrated ability to repair computer-controlled motorized equipment, water pumps, hydraulic pumps and other automated control devices. Demonstrated ability to operate personal computer equipment and demonstrate proficiency using applications like Microsoft Outlook, Word and Ecel. Basic knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), California/OSHA (Cal/OSHA) and other State or federal regulatory agencies safety practices and transportation requirements. Operate and maintain Agency groundwater recovery project well sites. Read and record various meter readings. Operate and maintain hand tools. Perform maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment. Perform janitorial duties, general housekeeping and grounds maintenance.
