The scholarship includes tuition, fees, dorms and the meal plan. To apply: Student must be a full-time freshmen Applicant must have a minimum high school average of 90 Minimum combined SAT score of 1200 or 26 on the ACT Visit the website at 1/31/2012 Eagle Scout Academic Scholarships/Merit Scholarships Scholarships of $3,000 are provided by the NESA scholarship fund. The number of scholarships awarded annually depends on the funds available. To apply: Visit the website at Several different scholarships are available. 1/31/2012 NACEL Open Door Congress-Bundestag Vocational Youth Exchange Program This is a non-profit educational exchange organization that allows graduating high school seniors to spend a year in Germany living with a host family, participating in a school or training program, and getting hands-on work experience through an internship with a German company. Tupper Writing Competition Manuscripts, not exceeding 12 pages, can be submitted in both the Creative Writing and Expository Writing categories. In the Creative Writing, students can choose to write four poems, a short story, or

2 some combination of both. In the Expository Writing category, students must write either a critical essay or personal essay. The first-place winner will be awarded a scholarship of $1,000 for each of the four years at Alfred University provided he or she enters the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and maintains a minimum of 3.0 GPA each year. Prize winners will receive tuition scholarships to Notre Dame that are renewable for up to four years. First prize: $3,000 scholarship per year, Second prize: $2,500 scholarship per year, Third prize: $2,500 scholarship per year. Each PTA region winner is presented a plaque and the state winner is awarded $250 and a plaque. Last year over $1,500,000 was awarded to scholarship recipients. The program is open to only 30 students per year and includes an annual scholarship of up to $10,000. Women in Science Scholarship also from St. John s Women planning on majoring in one of the sciences and who demonstrate financial need may be eligible for this scholarship. Recipients will be notified of this award in their financial aid award letter. Applicants must file the FAFSA as soon as possible No separate application is necessary 2/1/2012 Hartwick College and the National Science Foundation (NSF) Hartwick is offering six $40,000 scholarships in biotechnology, as part of the NSF Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S-STEM) program. The scholarships will be awarded to incoming students majoring in biology or biochemistry and interested in pursuing a career in biotechnology. This scholarship is granted in addition to any merit scholarship and need-based financial aid for which recipients qualify. Presidential Scholars are extended special privileges, priority registration, housing and an annual merit stipend. To apply: Visit the website at 2/15/2012 Military Commanders Scholarship Fund The New York Chapter of the American Logistics Association sponsors up to 10 $5,000 scholarships for dependent children of active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired members of the US military. Four applications per school will be accepted. This organization is awarding several $5,000 scholarships to graduating high school students of Italian- American ancestry who reside in Nassau or Suffolk County and who will be attending an accredited college or university. Students must have a successful academic and extra-curricular record, and above average SAT scores. A minimum of 20 students must be active on the website in order for one to be chosen 3/1/2012 Future Latino Leaders Law Camp GRADE HISPANIC STUDENTS Latino students in grades may be able to participate in the Future Latino Leaders Law Camp which will be held on July 14 22, 2012 in Washington, D. C. on the campus of American University. The cost of this camp is $2,500 however most fees can be waived. Students will be responsible for the cost of transportation to and from Washington D.C. however some transportation waivers may be available. To apply: Complete the online application at 3/1/2012 The Tenth Annual Peierls Scholarship An annual scholarship of $1,000 is available to high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in the professional theatre and will be continuing his/her theatrical education on a college or conservatory level. High school seniors graduating in June are eligible to apply. The scholarship will be awarded to three deserving students in the amounts of $7,500, $6,500, and $5,500. Women residing in New York State are eligible. In addition a $600 grant will be warded to each Area Winner not receiving one of the three scholarship awards. Scholarship is awarded on the basis of character, academic achievement, physical education competence, participation in athletics, qualities of leadership and financial need. 10 3/1/2012 The Hearing Loss Association of America This is an international non-profit organization which is providing an award to seniors. To apply: Must be a senior and intend to attend college or post-secondary training and reside in Suffolk County Submit documentation of hearing impairment audiogram, medical report or report from a teacher of the hearing impaired. Submit high school transcript with a B- or higher Be involved in school and/or community activities Submit application form available in the Career Counseling Center Submit an essay describing your efforts and success in overcoming the challenge of hearing impairment. 3/1/2012 American Chemical Society Scholars Program The American Chemical Society Scholars Program awards scholarships to undergraduate students with outstanding academic records who plan to pursue a career in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or other chemically related fields. These renewable scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and financial need. To apply: Applicants must be in 9-11 grades and have a strong ability in science and math. 11 3/1/2012 The Art Institute s Storytellers Photography Competition The winner of this competition could earn a photography scholarship to an Art Institutes school. Create a visual story with a series of six original photos on the theme Storytelling Through the Lens and your artists statement about the photos.
