1 Local Scholarships **Some local scholarships require special applications forms** 100 MILE CRUZERS MECHANIC BURSARY Amount: $500 This bursary is to help a student further his/her commitment to continued education in the Mechanic trade. By being a part of our community, the 100 Mile House Cruzers Car Club would like try to help a student of our community to improve their further education. For a student who is carrying on with proper education (after High School) towards a Mechanical Degree (License), Body shop or Electrical degree. 100 MILE & DISTRICT FIGURE SKATING CLUB Amount: $500 *Special Application To apply for the Scholarship they need to have skated with us for 6 consecutive years and still be skating for the season in which they graduate as well. This Scholarship is meant for Students that have dedicated themselves to the sport of Figure Skating which entails leadership, confidence, good grades, sportsmanship, volunteer work and the dedication to achieve higher goals independently. 100 MILE HOUSE & DISTRICT SOCCER ASSOCIATION Amount: $ * Special Application Description: Recognizing and supporting a OMHSA Youth soccer players that stands out not only as a player but also demonstrates willingness to volunteer, help coaching, organizing, referring and displays good sportsmanship. Criteria: Any career direction- could be sport but not necessary must have completed 1 st semester and signed up for 2 nd semester to receive award.

2 100 MILE FEED & RANCH SUPPLY LTD. Amount: $ Mile Feed & Ranch Supply was started by the late Frank Dobbs Sr. in It has supported this area ever since. The scholarships are to be awarded to students pursuing full time post-secondary programs in agriculture. 100 MILE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS Amount: *Special Application History and description: The festival has been active in 100 Mile House since The first 100 Mile Festival of the Arts scholarship was awarded in 1990 and we plan to continue to support our graduates in this way. The 100 Mile Festival of the Arts makes available annually a $500 scholarship to promote artistic endeavors in music, vocal, instrumental, drama and speech arts. 100 Mile Festival of the Arts is a registered Canadian charity that promotes the education, expression and celebration of the performing arts through voice, piano, other instruments, speech arts and creative writing. We hold an annual spring Festival of the Arts as well as workshops, master classes, recitals and concerts. In 2008 over 200 entrants participated. Our aim is to foster and maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere in which all participants may flourish. 100 Mile Festival of the Arts is a non-profit organization, with the aim of sponsoring an annual Festival of the Arts, in conjunction with the B.C. Festival of the Arts. The financing for these events comes from: patrons, annual memberships, Arts Council grants and fund raising by the executive. Selection criteria: The applicants must have participated in recent 100 Mile Festivals in one or more disciplines. The applicants will be considered on the excellent standard of their participation. Applicants must have exhibited "sportsmanlike" behavior in all Festival events and classes. Academic achievement will be noted but will not be the deciding factor in this scholarship selection. Preference will be given to applicants who are continuing on to post- secondary education in the Arts. 100 MILE HOUSE FREE PRESS/ BLACK PRESS Amount: $800 *Special Application The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a deserving student and to assist this student in pursuing a post-secondary education. 100 MILE HOUSE FREE PRESS is this area's weekly community newspaper "The Voice of the South Cariboo since 1960."

3 Please apply with a one-page essay on importance of a community newspaper. This scholarship is to be awarded to a student pursuing fulltime post secondary programs leading to a degree in journalism. 100 MILE HOUSE & DISTRICT ARTS COUNCIL 3 AWARDS BELOW 1. DONNA LOVERIDGE MEMORIAL Amount: $500 * Special Application To commemorate the contribution of artist and past President of the Council, Donna Loveridge. Description of the Organization: The 100 Mile and District Arts Council is a volunteer- run, community based organization dedicated to developing opportunities for area residents to experience and/or participate in creative and cultural endeavors, specifically: through events (e.g. the concert series); through member groups; and through fostering interest and pride in the culture of our community To any student going on in the Visual Arts. 2. LITERARY ARTS Amount: $500 - *Special Application Form To encourage and assist a student pursuing a career in the Literary Arts, Journalism, or a related field. A student pursuing a career in the Literary Arts, etc. Description of the Organization: The 100 Mile and District Arts Council is a volunteer run, community-based organization dedicated to developing opportunities for area residents to experience and/or participate in creative and cultural endeavors, specifically: through events (e.g. the concert series); through member groups; and through fostering interest and pride in the culture of our community. 3. PERFORMING ARTS Amount: $500 * Special Application Form Description of Scholarship: To encourage and assist a student pursuing a career in the Performing Arts. A student pursuing a career in the Performing Arts. 4 cultural endeavors, specifically: through events (e.g. the concert series); through member groups; and through fostering interest and pride in the culture of our community 100 MILE & DISTRICT GENERAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY Amount: $500 *Special Application The 100 Mile General District Hospital Auxiliary is a non-profit organization. Volunteers comprise an extremely talented and valuable resource within the hospital. Candy Striper program is offered by the Auxiliary, which provides an opportunity for young people to work in the hospital. Through this program, young people learn the value of helping others. This scholarship may be awarded to a student enrolling in: - Health sciences/medically related field - has been a Candy Striper - financial need - good academic standing. 100 MILE GARDEN CLUB-NATURAL WORLD SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $500 Purpose of Scholarship: The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a student pursuing a post-secondary education (degree or diploma program) in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, landscaping, fisheries, environment, veterinarian studies or related fields of world stewardship. The applicant must submit: a. transcript of marks. b. two references: one from a community member (not related) and one from a teacher. c. a cover letter of 500 words to include the student's goals including school he/she is applying. d. A thank you note. 100 MILE HOUSE LIONS Amount: 3@ $1, i) 1 x $1,000 (Based on academic standing) ii) 1 x $1,000 (Based on financial need) iii) 1 x $1,000 (For a student planning a career in a trade or trades related field)

5 Lions Club International was established in 1917 in Chicago, and now has a world-wide membership of 1.4 million men and women in 44,000 clubs in 185 countries and geographical areas. Our motto is "We Serve". The 100 Mile House Lions club was established in 1956 and has been very active in the community. We built the Health Centre building (at Cedar and 4th Ave.), and developed much of Centennial Park including part of the trail system, some of the playground equipment and the shelters. We have contributed to scholarships, CNIB, Timmy's Telethon, sponsored sports teams, assisted at the marathon and other community events and have helped literally hundreds of needy individuals over the years. The bursary is to be awarded to grade 12 students, taking a full course load, who will be pursuing a fulltime post-secondary program leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate. The student selected shall have demonstrated through their actions both in the school and/or in the community that he/she understands and embodies the Lions motto "We Serve". The student shall also demonstrate superior academic standing. 108 MILE HOUSE LIONS CLUB Amount: 2 x $ Lions are a part of Lions International, a worldwide organization that supports many worthwhile causes. Our Motto - "We Serve To advance the education of a student and to encourage prompt attendance at a Post Secondary Institution. Must be a resident of the 108. Must be registered with an education facility by the end of the year in which they graduate, unless a letter of deferment for up to 1 year is received by the end of the year in which they graduate. 100 MILE PERFORMING ARTS SOCIETY New for 2018 Amount: $1,000 Description: The purpose of our bursary is to support students who have contributed to the 100 Mile performing arts community and are pursuing performing arts in post-secondary education. Criteria: The student must demonstrate outstanding ability and potential in performing art, dance, music or dance. The student must have participated in performing arts (band, choir, guitar, theatre) at some time in grades The student must have participated in performing arts in the community (theatre, festival, community choir, community band, dance or rhythmic gymnastics) this list is not exclusive and participation in any community performing arts is recognized. It is not a requirement that the student must have worked on a 100 Mile Performing Arts production. The student must submit proof of registration in at least one performing arts course at a post-secondary institution to receive payment.

6 BC GOV'T RETIRED EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION Amount: $500 This bursary was established to assist high school graduates in their pursuit of formal education and training in a post-secondary institution. This bursary is unrestricted and available to any student pursuing post-secondary education. This includes trades, college and university. The selected bursary recipient must submit in writing to the contact person of this organization, proof of registration in a post-secondary institution beginning with the fall semester. The bursary money will then be forwarded to the recipient. The bursary must be applied for within 12 months from September of the year of graduation. BRENT HENRY MEMORIAL Amount: 2x $1,000 *Special Application This fund was originated in 1981 following the tragic accident which claimed the life of rep team all-star goalie Brent Henry, a student at Peter Skene Ogden School. To assist/reward students & their families who have contributed to minor hockey and or figure skating programs in 100 Mile. Selection will be based primarily on the amount of time and effort returned to either; minor hockey/officiating, coaching, fund raising, etc. and/or figure skating coaching, fundraising, etc. by the applicant and/or his or her family. BRIDGE LAKE COMMUNITY CLUB BURSARY Amount: $ The Bridge Lake Community Club holds an annual rodeo, funds are raised to assist in this bursary. To help a graduate further their post-secondary studies. This bursary is awarded to a student from Bridge Lake School pursuing full time post-secondary programs. BROCK AND TERRI-LYNN MELNYK FAMILY BURSARY Amount: $ *Special Application Brock and Terri-Lynn met in 2000 at the University of Calgary. Without the aid of community bursaries and scholarships from their high schools in Invermere and 100 Mile House, neither would have been able to afford post-secondary education. Terri-Lynn graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor

7 of Arts in Political Science, and is currently completing her Master s degree in business. She is currently the Senior Manager of Risk Adjusting Pricing at ATB Financial in Calgary. Brock went to the University of Lethbridge where he completed a Bachelor of Management in Finance. Brock works as a Financial Advisor in Calgary with ATB Securities Inc. In 2012 they established the Brock and Terri-Lynn Melnyk Family Bursary and the Sophie Zelt Memorial Bursary in order to give back to their small town roots and provide opportunity to those in need. -A student in good academic standing -A student who demonstrates financial need -A student enrolled in full time studies at a recognized university program in Western -Canada. -A student who has overcome hardship -A student who has demonstrated a desire to give back to their community through volunteer or extracurricular activities CALLIE ROBINSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $500 * Special Application In a tribute to Callie Robinson, a memorial fund has been established to support a sports scholarship and will be awarded on an annual basis. 1. Student must be a female graduating from high school in the year applied for. 2. Student continuing on to post-secondary education. 3. Student must exhibit high athletic abilities. 4. Student must exhibit exemplary sportsmanship and leadership qualities. 5. The scholarship need not go to a student with the highest GPA unless necessary as the deciding factor. -A student who has overcome hardship -A student who has demonstrated a desire to give back to their community through volunteer or extracurricular activities CANADIAN MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION Amount: $500 *Special Application This scholarship is designed to help a student pursuing a career related to mental health (such as Psychiatry or a Community Mental Health Worker.) 2 letters of reference. A letter to CMHA outlining the reason for your application and your career goals.

8 CANIM LAKE TRUCKER'S ASSOCIATION Amount: $ Special Application This scholarship is designed to help a student further his or her education. The Canim Lake Truckers Association is a group of owner/operators that originally started the association around This group has worked for various forest companies over the last 40 years and currently holds contracts with West Fraser-100 Mile and Chasm divisions. Available to a son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter of a member of the Canim Lake Trucker's Association who is furthering their education at a college, university or trade school CARIBOO CHILCOTIN TEACHERS ASSOCIATION Amount: 3@ $ 1, *Special Application To reward children of CCTA members going on to post-secondary education. -Students MUST be a child of a CCTA member with the highest GPA -student must provide proof of registration in a post-secondary institution. CARIBOO CHILCOTIN PRINCIPALS AND VICE PRINCIPALS ASSOCIATION Amount: $1000 *Special Application Form Description of Scholarship: Any student is eligible, with first priority to son or daughter of an administrator (current or retired). We lean towards someone who has good grades and is planning to pursue a career in education. Ultimately however, we leave it to the selection committee to make the appropriate choice. 1st: The child of a CCPVPA (Cariboo Chilcotin Principals and Vice-Principals Association)Member 2nd: A student pursuing a teaching career. 3rd. Choice of the selection committee. Brief Description of the Organization: Composed of all Principals and Vice-principals in S.D. #27. CARIBOO REGIONAL DISTRICT BURSARY

9 Amount: $ Special Application Form Description of Bursary and Students applying for this bursary must be pursuing a career in local government. For example, educational paths could include such areas as public administration, planning, bylaw enforcement, engineering, communications or environmental studies. * Student must have a minimum of a B average throughout their grade 12 year * Students must complete a 500 word essay about their future studies and how it will be incorporated into a career in government. Payment of Award: To be eligible for this award, students must maintain registration in a minimum of 60% of a full course load for their first year of post-secondary education. Students apply for the bursary through their post-secondary institution that will award the funds during commencement of that school year. The award may be cancelled for any of the following reasons: -Lack of suitable candidates -Failure to meet the terms and conditions of the awards -Withdrawal from the University CARIBOO STRONG SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $ Criteria: A Student looking to get into a career for any kind of first responder such as a paramedic, police, fire fighter or even the medical field, doctor, nurse or into the forestry wildfire department. History/Description: I started a fundraiser with the Cariboo Strong Logo. We have raised money for a scholarship and donations to ccarrs animal rescue. I am a nurse here in 100 Mile House and would love to support a student wanting to get a career in any first responder field. DEKA LAKE & DISTRICT FIRE DEPT. LADIES AUXILLARY Amount: $500 * Special Application History/Description: Preference given to students from our four lakes area (Deka Sulphurous Hathaway-Higgins Lakes) If no one from that area then from area bordered by Lone Butte to Horse Lake Road and along Hwy 24 to Lac de Roche. Criteria: to a graduating student DISTRICT AUTHORITY SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $1, *Special Application - AT THE OFFICE To win this scholarship, a student must meet the criteria determined by the local District Scholarship Committee, which requires a student to demonstrate superior achievement in any of the following areas:

10 Fine Arts (Visual arts, Dance, Drama, Music) Applied Skills (Tech. Ed/ Home Ec. / Business Ed.) Physical Activity ( not limited to Physical Ed) Second Languages ( including Aboriginal Languages) with IRPs or External Assessments, including AP and IB courses Technical and Trades Training Community Service Fulfill the graduation requirements of either the 1995 Graduation Program, the 2004 Graduation Program, or the Adult Graduation Program. An equitable distribution should be made across the four areas DOUG SMITH MEMORIAL BURSARY Forest Grove Legion#261 Amount: $ * Special Application The Royal Canadian Legion was established to assist veterans and their dependents. The organization has expanded over the years to assist youth and the elderly and contributes to the training of medical professionals. To also assist a student in pursuit of a post-secondary education. The student MUST be a resident of the Forest Grove area (Forest Grove, Canim Lake, Ruth Lake, Eagle Creek, Buffalo Creek and Hawkins Lake) The student must be committed to post-secondary education and requires financial assistance. Preference will be given to a student with Legion affiliation, a relative of a Legion member. DRY GRAD 2015 LEGACY FUND SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $1, *Special Application To promote continued education for a student that demonstrates positive volunteer contributions within the school Grad year, while maintaining honor roll standings academically. -Student must be enrolled in Post-Secondary Education -Grade 12 student with 73% average and above -demonstrates a willingness to give of themselves through volunteer time to benefit fellow students (provide list of volunteer activities + summary of hours) with 2 references. -must provide 500 word essay, how staying away from alcohol and drugs have a positive effect on your life FIRE CHIEF BOB PATERSON'S MEMORIAL BURSARY Amount: $500 In memory of Bob Paterson. On Dec. 18, 1997, Fire Chief Robert (Bob) Craig Paterson, passed away in

11 the line of duty. He was responding to a call on Dec. 17, 1997 at which time he sustained his life threatening injuries. Bob was the Fire Chief for 33 years of his 35 years in the fire department. Bob was an upstanding and active member of our community as well as owning his own businesses in town. 1. Student of 100 Mile House Volunteer Fire - Rescue 2. FLORENCE REDPATH AND RITA LARSEN MEMORIAL- Forest Grove Legion #261 Amount: $500 * Special Application The Royal Canadian Legion was originally started following the First World War to assist veterans and their dependents. The organization has now expanded to assist youth and the elderly and contributes to the training of the medical profession. To assist a student to achieve a higher level of education, and in poor financial circumstances. Student must be a resident of the Forest Grove area. Only Forest Grove, Canim Lake, Eagle Creek, Buffalo Creek, Hawkins Lake, and Ruth Lake applications will be considered. A student committed to furthering their education and experiencing financial difficulties with a commitment to community service is considered an asset. GREG HERZOG MEMORIAL BURSARY Amount: $250 This scholarship is in memory of Greg Anton Herzog who passed away as a result of a motor vehicle accident 2 km north of Clinton on February 4, At the time of his death, Greg was a student at Cariboo College (now TRU) in Kamloops, pursuing a career in welding. This scholarship is for a student who has overcome difficulties or obstacles over the course of his/her young life. These could be related to learning, physical or family difficulties. Greg struggled with school until he entered grade 10, where upon he was able to overcome these difficulties. He graduated from PSO and returned to upgrade so he could enter Cariboo College. GRANT HERZOG MEMORIAL BURSARY Amount: $250

12 The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize a deserving student and to assist the student to pursue a post-secondary education Annetta Herzog and family honor Grant Herzog's life and in his memory have presented a memorial scholarship since his accidental death at the age of 23 years in July, Grant had natural ability as an artist from his early years. Grant enjoyed sharing his drawings and paintings with family and friends. He looked forward to pursuing a career in the graphic arts. Grant loved music and had an extensive collection of his favorite music. The scholarship is to be awarded to a student pursuing a full time post-secondary program leading to a degree or certificate. The student selected will be planning a career in the arts field. The selected student will have a preference for visual arts or performing arts, such as graphic art etc. The selected student will be a caring person who enjoys being of help to others when it is possible. HENDRIX LAKE GYM FUND BURSARY Amount: $500 The Hendrix Lake Gym Fund scholarship was created when the funds being raised to build a gymnasium at Hendrix Lake was donated to the P.S.O. Scholarship fund. The gym was to be attached to the school at Hendrix Lake. The school and community closed when Noranda Mines ceased operations in To be awarded to a deserving P.S.O. student pursuing a higher education HIGHWAY 24 INTERLAKES LIONS CLUB BURSARY Amount: $500 -* Special Application The Highway 24 Interlakes makes available annually a $500 scholarship for students graduating from Peter Skene Ogden Sec. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize deserving students - male or female. Lions Club International started in 1917 and is the largest service club in the world with 1.3 million members in over 46,000 clubs and 747 districts in 206 countries. The Highway 24 Interlakes Lions Club was founded in the spring of 1976, and is affiliated with the Lions Club International. Lions Al Bishop, Don Charlton and Russ Ross are founding members and are still active in the club. Our club currently has 25 members, eight of whom are female. Our club is also the proud sponsor of the South Cariboo Lioness Club. There are two dinner meetings per month, and members participate in many fund raising activities. As well, club members engage in such community events as pancake breakfasts, parades and rodeos. The Lions support many international, national and local causes, and our club is no exception. We couldn't do it without the support of individuals here in the Cariboo and we are extremely grateful for their support. The slogan "Help us Help Others" is the result. Recipients must show proof that he/she is continuing their post-secondary education prior to receipt of

13 scholarship. Recipients must also reside within the following boundaries: North - to Bowers Lake Forestry Road and Mahood Lake Road intersection, South - Watch Lake/Sharps Lake, East - to Birch Lake, Hwy 24, West - to Lone Butte up to and including Lone Butte, Northwest - Horse Lake Rd. west to Lone Butte/Horse Lake cutoff road HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES UNION BURSARY (100 MILE LOCAL) Amount: $500 To help a PSO Graduate further their education. Priority is given to a HEU member s child or grandchild, if no one has applied, then the award is available to a student continuing in post-secondary education, any GPA, any career choice. IKON BURSARY Amount: $ Available to all graduates of School District No.27 (Cariboo-Chilcotin) 2. Student must be able to demonstrate community service. 3. Student must be pursuing a post-secondary education in the business field. INGRID HARRISON MEMORIALSCHOLARSHIP Amount: $500 *Special Application- AT THE OFFICE Description of Scholarship: For Post-Secondary Education. 1. Parent or Guardian must be employed at 100 OSB Division 2. Students going into the forest industry 3. Highest academic grade INTERLAKES CATTLEBELLES BURSARY Amount: $500 - *Special Application The Provincial Cattlebelles started in 1974 as the Women's Auxiliary of the BC Cattlemen's. Their goal was to promote beef to the benefit of the livestock industry. The BC Cattlebelles folded in 1988 but the Interlakes Cattlebelles kept going independently. We promote agricultural education for all commodities (e.g.: beef, dairy, pork, poultry, etc. We sell our 'famous beef on a bun' at various events, which are our major fundraising opportunities.

Student must be entering into an agricultural post-secondary program. I.U.O.E. Local 959 SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $1000 *Special Application - AT THE OFFICE In support of the children of members of the I.U.O.E. Local 959, to assist in the pursuit of a postsecondary education. Description of the Organization: The I.U.O.E. Local 959, is the union for the support workers of S.D.# 27 including clerical, custodial, transportation, maintenance, teacher assistant, youth care workers, auxiliary workers and First Nation support workers. We provide $ to School District 27 employee student district wide. At present this includes WLSS, CSS and PSO The criteria includes: - Student must be a child of a member of the I.U.O.E. Local Student must be pursuing full time post-secondary programs - Student must show a need of financial support - Student must demonstrate a reasonable GPA JAMIE DENGEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $600 - *Special Application Form We are giving two yearly scholarships in memory of our son Jamie Simon Dengel - "The Hammer", August 24, 1983 to July 8, Jamie graduated from Peter Skene Ogden and his greatest achievement was receiving the Sports and Rec 12 Award and an Honor Roll Medallion. Ocular cancer took his right eye at age 14 however his determination to excel at sports proved successful. 10 years later his cancer

15 metastasized. He had a fighting spirit and a radiant smile that could light up a room. Jamie's love was his family, friends and music. His legacy lives on... Share with us a brief story about yourself and your future plans. JEAN REYNOLDS MEMORIAL BURSARY AMOUNT: $1000 The late Jean Reynolds was a teacher in Forest Grove for many years and a long-term director of the Canim Lake Community Club. The funds for this bursary were obtained by sale of property donated to the club when the Eagle Creek School was closed. A decision was made to support local education with some of the funds. Selection criteria: 1. First preference will be students residing in the Community Club's service area, east of Canim Lake Reserve including the Hawkins Lake area. 2. Second preference will be students with the greatest financial need. JON HOWARD SORTOME MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $500 Jon loved his many outdoor pursuits. He was also a compassionate and dedicated member of the BC Ambulance Service, as well as volunteering his time to the P.A.R.T.Y, grad, The Outdoor Club and other events at PSO. Sadly, Jon passed away on August while climbing Mt. Rogers. The JHS Memorial Scholarship was created by family and friends to assist a student graduating from PSO who plans to pursue post-secondary studies related to environmental studies or in emergency trauma care. Post-secondary studies in a field that relates to the environment, such as Ecology, Wildlife Management, biology. Post-secondary studies in Emergency Trauma Care. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BURSARY Amount: $1,000 - *Special Application Form Each year the Knights of Columbus (a Catholic Men's organization) of St. Jude's Parish gives two scholarships for two deserving students. Available to the son/daughter of Knights of Columbus or a student attending St. Jude's Parish, or then open to any graduating student. LAC LA HACHE COMMUNITY CLUB BURSARY Amount: 2 x $500 - *Special Application Form

Lorraine held great respect and appreciation for traditional and contemporary Indigenous practices, values and knowledge. Lorraine especially treasured the company of elders and children. Accordingly, in memory of Lorraine, her family wishes to offer a scholarship for Indigenous students that can be used towards continuing education after graduating from PSO. This scholarship is open to Indigenous students with a preference to those from the Five Northern Shuswap Bands. MARTIN CECIL MEMORIALSCHOLARSHIP (Sponsor: Bridge Creek Estate Ltd.) Amount: $1000 Organization is the successor to land & holdings of Lord Martin Cecil, a pioneer of this area and founder of the community/municipality of 100 Mile House. The Cecil family members are the owners of the organization and continue the legacy of the founder in the agricultural and development fields. To assist an appropriate student to proceed to post-secondary education - University, College or Technical Training. Preference to a student proceeding to studies/career in agricultural or related fields, environmental disciplines, community planning, sustainable forestry, etc. If no student qualifies as above, then we are happy to extend the scholarship to any student deemed suitable by the scholarship committee.

17 MT. BEGBIE MASONIC LODGE #183 BURSARY Amount: $500 This scholarship is awarded by Mount Begbie Lodge No. 183 (A.F. & A.M British Columbia & Yukon) in 100 Mile House. This lodge is one of thousands of masonic lodges about the world being a fraternal organization based on the principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. The scholarship is awarded to a deserving student entering a Technical or Vocational Trade. PAT MENDUK MEMORIAL BURSARY Amount: $300 Pat Menduk worked for many years in the schools of the South Cariboo as a Substitute Teacher, Teacher Assistant and Secretary. She was passionate about school athletics and coached/sponsored countless teams. This Bursary is just one of the many legacies she has left the students of PSO. The recipient must be; - student who participates in school athletics - student in good academic standing - student who volunteers at PSO or in community organizations, and displays outstanding citizenship characteristics -Enrolled in a post-secondary program MUDHAR FAMILY BURSARY Amount: $500 We were fortunate enough to graduate from the same school and go on to have successful endeavors. We want to give back to the community by recognizing a student who not only excels in their studies but helps those around them. Criteria: Any graduating student who tries hard and does well. PARKSIDE ART GALLERY BURSARY Amount: $ *Special Application Form This scholarship is funded by donations made to the South Cariboo Arts and Culture Society which operates at the Parkside Art Gallery.

RACHEL MCCOMB - CANADIAN PARENTS FOR FRENCH SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $650 * Special Application Form Canadian Parents for French (South Cariboo) started a scholarship in Rachel McComb was to be our first recipient to receive this scholarship. Tragically, Rachel passed before she ever received her scholarship money. CPF, along with her parents, decided to make this scholarship in memory of Rachel, a former French Immersion student. CPF South Cariboo thanks Rachel s family and friends who have made the original CPF scholarship into the more sizable amount that it is today. Merci! All kids should feel safe and confident at school and the ones who help with this should be commended. Criteria; To be awarded to a student who has excellent leadership ability, has shown to support his/her peers in the face of adversity and has taken steps to address the bullying problems all kids face, either at school or on social media ROYAL LEPAGE 100 MILE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE Amount $250 This Scholarship is to further the educations of a student and reward them for their hard work and dedication. Criteria: Any career path accepted, to award to a student with exceptional academic performance.

21 SHIRLEY CASE MEMORIAL BURSARY Amount: $500 * Special Application Form Shirley Case was a PSO graduate who went on to work as a humanitarian aid worked in many parts of the world. She was compassionate and giving to all. She has a passion for making meaningful connections with people from every walk of life. Shirley also achieved academic success, having completed a Master s degree in Human Securities and Peace Building by the age of 27. Someone who is community minded and/or has a passion for humanitarian work, environmentally aware, supports social equality and has been involved in some student support clubs throughout their high school years. SOPHIE ZELT MEMORIAL BURSARY Amount: $ *Special Application Sophie Barbara Zelt was orphaned at 10 years old, and raised in a convent. When she came of age, she joined the Air Force and shortly thereafter met her husband. She moved to 100 Mile House in Her husband Vernon passed away in 1977, widowing her with 5 children, all of whom attended Peter Skene Ogden. Sophie worked at the Rangeland Theatre for over 20 years and was a member of the Catholic Women's League for nearly 40. When Sophie passed away in 2008 her wishes included "Let me live on in your eyes, your mind and in your acts of kindness." As the eldest of her grandchildren, my wife and I have decided to start a memorial bursary so that her memory may live on. Selections Criteria: This scholarship is designed for a student who is going on to further their education into an agricultural or horticultural branch and displays leadership qualities.

22 STEVEN ANDREW MEVILLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $500 * Special application - AT THE OFFICE This award, in memory of Steven Andrew Meville, is available to students who attended Horse Lake Elementary. This is a private memorial award made possible by the generosity of the 100 Mile House community, friends and family. The scholarship is awarded to a student who attended Horse Lake Elementary. The student must be active in the school community, extra-curricular activities or peer tutoring. A satisfactory academic level is required. The applicant is required to supply proof of attendance at Horse Lake Elementary. THOMPSON-NICOLA REGIONAL DISTRICT (TNRD) BURSARY Amount: $1,000 To be considered for this $1000 Bursary, the successful applicant must -be a resident of the TNRD electoral area for a minimum of 12 months prior to application date. The electoral area includes Clinton, 70 Mile and Green Lake. -be a graduate of Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School -have reasonable academic achievement -have demonstrated community volunteerism -submit a 500 word essay about local government UNITED STEELWORKERS LOCAL BURSARY * Students are to provide proof of Union membership (either that of parent or self) Amount: 2 x $500 *Special Application Form Two scholarships will be awarded yearly, in the amount of $ each. One scholarship will be awarded to each of the graduating Grade 12 students that register in the following year at any University, University Transfer college course or Technical school in BC, or such other University, Technical school or educational institution as agreed to by the selection committee. 1) An applicant must be a Member (as per the International constitution) of a son or daughter of the member, or a son or daughter of a retired or deceased member (as per the International Constitution at the time of death) or legal ward or annuitant of a Member of USW * West Fraser Chasm Division is Not Eligible. 2) The payment will be made in one installment to the institution of his/her choice. 3) The successful applicant must complete a full school year at the institution he/she attends, or the USW Local may request a refund.

He was a hard-working, dependable, loving young adult who loved life and loved his profession. The purpose of this scholarship is to help a kind, hardworking student achieve his or her goals in a profession that they are passionate about. Any student who has a strong goal set for either post-secondary school or trades school. This scholarship can be used up to two years after graduation. WEST FRASER SCHOLARSHIP Amount: 2@$1,000 West Fraser and its employees wish to support the broad needs of our community for trained, skilled and educated people to fill employment and community service roles in the future. Union application to the Credit Union, requests for funds may be deferred for a period of one year. Half the bursary will be advanced upon proof that the recipient is enrolled and attending a full program in the first semester.
