1 University Woman s Club Newsletter University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Founded in 1949 SPRING PROGRAM AND LUNCH THURSDAY MORNING MARCH 21 at 10:30 a.m. GOVERNOR S CLUB February 2013 The Spring Program this year will feature one of our own members, Ambassador Brenda Brown Schoonover, a veteran of some 30 years in the U.S. Foreign Service. In her presentation, Rewards and Challenges of a Foreign Service Career, Brenda will share some of her very interesting experiences during various assignments in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Belgium and Togo. She is President of the American Diplomacy on-line journal and currently serves on the advisory boards of the University of North Carolina s Global Education Center, the International Affairs Council of the Research Triangle, IntraHealth International and Carolina Friends of the Foreign Service. In 2003, she received the U.S. Presidential Meritorious Service Award. This is the special biennial year in which we host the Sir Walter Cabinet (spouses of elected government officials and cabinet secretaries). It provides an unusual opportunity to meet and welcome these guests to enjoy a UNC- Chapel Hill experience of intellectual stimulation and hospitality. Please plan to attend and bring your friends. A full buffet lunch will be served following the program. For questions, please contact Anne Montgomery at GAMontgomery@bellsouth.net or Please find Reservation Form for the Spring Program on page 6.
