1 Newsletter Issue October 2015 Fall Greetings What a glorious autumn. We hope you have been able to enjoy this beautiful weather! UNOWC is off to a great start. Our first event, the Scholarship Award Dinner, was absolutely wonderful. The setting was lovely, the food delicious, the companionship delightful, and the scholarship winners grateful. This evening was possible thanks to the hard work and efforts of Jennifer Katz, Amy Schlinder, and Janet Pol and her scholarship committee. Sincere thanks are also extended to Chancellor John and Honorary UNOWC President Jan Christensen. It was a memorable event to celebrate our ten scholarship winners, who each received a $1000 toward their tuition. These awards are made possible because of your generosity. Our interest groups are also up and running. The General Book Group met in October, and so did the Lunch Bunch. The Mystery Book Club, led by Karen Garver, is also looking for new members to join. For those of you who like crafts, especially knitting, Angelika will be starting a new interest group; all crafts and skill levels are welcome. Angelika can also provide basic knitting lessons or instruction if you are interested in learning. Contact her angelikawalker@unomaha.edu if you are interested in joining. If you have a special interest and would like to establish a new interest group within UNOWC, please let either of us know so that Inside This Issue Invitation to Baxter Arena Tour, RSVP by October Membership Form Coming Events and Club News Photos from Scholarship Dinner we can initiate it at our next meeting.
