SCHOLARSHIP: Nora Stone Smith Scholarship for ESL/ELL Students thewashboard.org March 30, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of the Nora Stone Smith Scholarship is to honor and to give financial support to deserving high school seniors and students who have graduated in the past year and have participated in an ESL/ELL program at some point in their lives. SCHOLARSHIP: Young American Creative Patriotic Art Scholarship REQUIREMENTS: Who is Eligible to Apply? Any student in grades 9-12 who is enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States; maximum student age of 18 at time of local entry; student must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national; applicant does not have to be related to a VFW or VFW Auxiliary member to participate, but the student must attend school in the same state as the sponsoring VFW Auxiliary. 4 SCHOLARSHIP: The James R. Hoffa Memorial Fund-2017 Training and Vocational Programs Scholarship REQUIREMENTS: Scholarships awarded on the basis of a comprehensive process. Scholarship winners are awarded training and vocational scholarships, training or vocational programs must be related to work in a Teamster-represented industry, class or craft. Applicants must be son, daughter or financial dependent of a Teamster member who is in good standing in the Union; plan to attend an accredited training or vocational non-baccalaureate program at a community college, or other training institution. This scholarship from the LSHS Choir Boosters was established in 2015 to perpetuate a love for, dedication to, and inspiration in the field of Music. 6 SCHOLARSHIP: Jo Derosier Memorial Scholarship April 28, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: The Jo Derosier Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the Friends of Jo Derosier and is intended to aid a graduating senior each year with her or her post-high school education. Jo Derosier, was a Lake Stevens High School student who was tragically killed in 2001 as she began her senior year. The Jo Derosier Scholarship is intended to assist a student who has achieved (as Jo herself did) a great deal despite challenging personal circumstances. See application for details. Special consideration will be given to students that have family members that are affiliated with the fire service, career or volunteer, seeking a Fire Science degree, seeking a degree in health services, and /or students attending a trade school.
