ACCREDITED COURSES CPC DRIVER TRAINING - 1 DAY Driver CPC PRS Training Services are working with approved Training providers who in turn work in colaboration with National Training Services and are able to deliver a range of JAUPT approved training courses, to enable you to complete your 35 hours of Periodic Training to comply with Driver CPC regulations. What is Driver CPC? As well as a driving licence, professional lorry and bus & coach drivers will have to hold a Certificate of Professional Competence which is renewable every 5 years. There will be an Initial Qualification for new drivers and Periodic Training for new and existing drivers. Driver CPC came into force on 10 September 2008 for PCV drivers and 10 September 2009 for LGV drivers. Who will the Driver CPC affect? A Driver CPC is required for drivers of the following categories; LGV (C1, C1+E, C, C+E licence) and PCV drivers (D1, D1+E, D, D+E licence) when driving professionally throughout the UK and Europe, unless there is an exemption for their vehicle or role. Does the Driver CPC affect foreign nationals? Yes, Driver CPC applies across all EU Member States and therefore all professional EU drivers are required to qualify and hold a Driver CPC. With National Training Services we have designed courses that will enable you to share your experiences with other drivers and also will allow you to clear up any misunderstandings you may have had over the years. Currently we offer the following courses: Drivers hours Health and Safety/ Preventative maintenance Emergency First Aid at Work Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (this is classroom and practical based) HIAB/Mechanical Handling Equipment (Refreshers) In the near future we will be looking at adding approved courses covering a range of subject areas. As a company, we can also design bespoke courses for your company based on your identified training needs, provided that these map to the EU training directive syllabus. Driver CPC courses are a minimum of 7 hours and can be delivered at our Academy, delivered at your premises or at a local venue. 5

ACCREDITED COURSES FORK LIFT TRUCK - RTITB OR ITSSAR Counterbalance Forklift Truck/Mechanical Handling Equipment 1-5 days Accredited to deliver Both RTITB and ITSSAR forklift training for operators and instructors. Operator Courses 5 day novice course: Aimed at new operators who have no experience of Mechanical Handling Equipment and covers all aspects of best practice and allows the necessary time to gain operational practice to successfully pass the required test. The maximum ratio for this course is 3 candidates to 1 instructor to 1 machine and the training must be conducted in a strict training environment. 3 day experienced operator courses: Aimed at operators of MHE who have not been formerly trained but have proven previous experience on a type of truck. The course content is exactly the same as the 5 day course but because of their previous experience the candidate will need less practice to meet the required standards. The maximum ratio for this course is 3 candidates to 1 instructor to 1 machine and the training must be conducted in a strict training environment. 6

1 day refresher course: The course is aimed at operators who have a proven UK training certificate and is designed to revisit the skills and knowledge covering best practice and safe operation. It also ensures that employers meet their obligations to retrain operators on a 3 to 5 year cycle. The maximum ratio for this course is 3 candidates to 1 instructor to 1 machine and the training must be conducted in a strict training environment. The standards require the candidate to pass a test covering pre operational checks of their truck, to ensure the obligations for using safe equipment by the operator and the employer are met. Candidates will sit a multi choice theory test, covering safety practices and operator safety responsibilities. If candidates have learning or language difficulties, by informing their instructor, the relevant help can be given. If a candidate has language difficulties then an interpreter can be used when completing the theory test. The interpreter must be supplied by your company and be a trusted member of staff. Finally a practical test, designed to show the candidates ability to control their truck within confined areas and their ability to stack and destack loads at various heights and scenarios. The test course is designed to simulate a normal working environment. Courses cover all aspects of health and Safety, PPE, stability, lorry loading required during basic training. We can also deliver your specific training requirements and assist in familiarisation training. This is because there is very limited time to offer any re training, only time to cover the examination requirements. All of the courses culminate in a series of examinations that each candidate is required to pass. These include operating a truck to instructor standard, Classroom theory presentation, assessed by centre staff. Associated knowledge multiple choice written test and finally a test of practical instructional ability, assessed by RTITB staff. Successful candidates will be eligible to apply for entry onto the RTITB register of instructors for a period of 5 years. Shunter/banksman courses Shunter Course The health and Safety at work act requires employers to provide adequate training, instruction and supervision for employees. This is especially required where a substantial risk has been identified. This would be the case in the role as a Shunter within a site. Obviously a fully qualified LGV driver would have the necessary skills to be able to perform his/her role, but it could be argued that they could be lacking in the knowledge covering their responsibilities. As there is no legal requirement for drivers of LGV s driven on company premises to have a full driving licence, this course would also satisfy the legal requirements under the HSAWA 74 and PUWER 98. The length and content of the course will be determined by the qualifications, experience and ability of the candidates. Banksman Course The health and Safety at work act requires employers to control the working environment to ensure the safety of all those involved in the operation. Also to provide adequate training, instruction and supervision for employees. Controlling the movement of vehicles within a yard is vitally important. If you have decided that the reversing of vehicles within your yard should be controlled and monitored by banksmen, it is critical that all parties are aware of their roles, responsibilities and personal safety. This course will cover all of the required elements to ensure the correct and safe movement and segregation of vehicles within the working environment and the safe and best practice to be used by those involved in the control of moving vehicles. The length of this course would be usually 1 day and cover both theory and practical skills and knowledge. This course duration will vary on the experience and expertise of the delegates. 8

ACCREDITED COURSES HIAB OPERATOR TRAINING HIAB Operator Training The RTITB Operator course consists of 15 modules and is either one or two days in duration (depending on whether the candidate is a novice or experienced operator). Both the one and two day courses culminate in a written and practical examination. The assessment process is set by RTITB and administered by the Instructor. It consists of one theoretical assessments and one practical. The theoretical assessments consist of a set of core multiple choice and open questions, as well as questions which relate specifically to the crane attachment being used. The practical assessment is designed to identify whether the candidate has the appropriate practical skills to operate a lorry loader safely and efficiently. Upon successful completion of the course, every candidate will receive an identity card and certificate, and will be registeredon the RTITB Operator database. The certificate and identity card are valid for two years, after which time refresher training and assessments will need to be undertaken. Both the identity card and certificate state the categories for which the operator is licensed). A4 certificate card RTITB 9

Respiratory protective equipment must reduce exposure as low as reasonably practicable, and in any case to an acceptable level (e.g. below any applicable Occupational Exposure Limits or Control Limits). To make sure that the selected RPE has the potential to provide adequate protection for individual wearers, the ACoPs supporting Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 (CAW) and Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002 (CLAW) recommend fit testing of RPE which incorporate a tight fitting face piece (see note below). This will help to ensure that inadequately fitting face pieces are not selected for use. Note: A tight fitting face piece is a full-face mask, a half facemask, or a filtering face piece (commonly referred to as a disposable mask). The performance of these types of face pieces, irrespective of whether they are used in negative pressure respirators, power assisted respirators or compressed air supplied breathing apparatus, relies heavily on the quality of fit of the face piece to the wearer s face.
