5 Pre-Conference Events Thursday October 26 th, 2017 Hazards across the Spectrum Wisconsin Trauma Registry and Performance Improvement This 8 hour class is broken down into two parts, and will cover the Wisconsin Trauma Registry and successful incorporation of a performance improvement program. The State Trauma Registrar Eric Anderson, with Registrars Kurrie Pelegrin and Barbara Scott, will cover aspects of data entry into the state registry while Trauma Site Reviewer Karen Keys will discuss successful Performance Improvement programs. This course is intended for Trauma Registrars and Trauma Coordinators. Please bring a laptop to follow along. Violent Event Training This 3.5 hour program covers violent events and proper response. Topics covered include Active Shooter Response; See Something, Say Something; and Suspicious Package Identification. This course is intended for all care providers. Presenters include Captain Sharpie; Brooke Learner, PHD; and the Southeastern Wisconsin Threat Analysis Center (STAC). Mass Casualty Course This 3.5 hour course will introduce the participant to SALT Triage, Response Teams, current Wisconsin Patient Tracking initiatives, and conclude with a tabletop exercise. This course is intended for all care providers. 8 Purpose Statement: The purpose of the full-day conference is to provide emergency response personnel and trauma care providers the opportunity to identify new practices and review current approaches in the care of the trauma patient. The Southeast Regional Trauma Advisory Council (SERTAC) promotes optimal trauma care across local, regional, and state boundaries through healthcare professionals who strive to provide quality care Conference Conference Objectives: At the end of the conference, attendees should be able to better understand Trauma and Preparedness programs; identify key variables related to their practice; apply the information gained to their practice and improve patient care. Target Audience: The intended audience includes Trauma Care Providers, Emergency Response Personnel, personnel involved in the continuum of care of trauma patients, and other persons interested in trauma or emergency preparedness. Continuing Education: Froedtert Hospital is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. Application has also been made to the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) for continuing education contact hours for respiratory therapists. A certificate of attendance will be given at the end of the conference. This conference will offer 6.1 nursing contact hours. To receive the contact hours, participants must attend the entire program and complete evaluations for each session attended and the conference overall. Froedtert & the is the approved provider of nursing contact hours for this activity in a joint provider agreement with SERTAC. Application has been made to the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) for continuing education contact hours for respiratory therapists.
