Another year in the home care industry and another year of challenges to address. The Missouri Alliance for Home Care has attracted another fine faculty to provide you with information, answers and more. Emergency Sheltering and the Role of Home Care Providers From ice and snow storms to floods and tornados, this session will discuss the role(s) of home care providers during an emergency and the importance of collaborative community planning. Also discussed will be the guidelines and operating principles outlined in the recent FEMA publication entitled Guidance on Planning for Integration of Functional Needs Support Services in General Population Shelters. This program will also review the Ready in 3 materials and their applicability to home care patients emergency preparedness. Only the Strong Survive: Lessons from the Law of the Jungle New legal rules and union organizing strategies have forever changed the steps an employer must take to protect employees and remain union free. Taming the Beast (Supply Management) A strong homecare supply management program can positively affect supply costs, staff productivity, clinical outcomes and revenue. Job descriptions and skills needed by a collector and the amount of time that should be spent on collections are just a few topics to be discussed, plus: followup, timely filing, contracts/rates, authorizations and appeals processes and monthly reports that should be prepared and evaluated. Continuing Education Opportunities: Nursing CEs The Missouri Alliance for Home Care is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Missouri Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. Most workshops are approved for continuing education for nurses. Those workshops which do not yield nursing credit are marked No CE. An individual may accumulate a maximum of 10 contact hours.
