3 Dear CRSI Member: Wednesday, November 7 ConTinenTAL BreAKFAST The CRSI 2012 Fall Business & Technical Meeting will be held Sunday, November 4, through Wednesday, November 7, at the Swissôtel in Chicago. I encourage your participation at this important meeting as the strength of CRSI is a direct result of the commitment, knowledge and experience contributed by each member to meet our common goals. Thor Heindahl, structural engineer with Target Corporation, will discuss new opportunities in reinforcing industrial floors. Mark Perniconi, the new executive director of the Charles Pankow Foundation, will present information on the Foundation, its mission, and how they can continue to partner more closely with CRSI. An overcoat is strongly suggested. Election Day This year s meeting is scheduled to run through November 6, which happens to be Election Day. CRSI Statement of Policy For many years, CRSI has steadfastly adhered to a policy that prohibits privately sponsored activities contrived to exclusively serve proprietary interests (i.e., equipment demonstrations, closed cocktail parties, etc.) at CRSI meetings or which compete with CRSI functions. For clarifications, the purpose of the policy is two-fold: To discourage privately sponsored endeavors, or "splinter groups" that dilute effectiveness of CRSI activities planned to serve the best interests of all member people in attendance there-by preserving the integrity of CRSI meetings. To consistently maintain an environment that promotes equal opportunity for all concerned-precluding unfair advantage of any individual or single firm.
