Frances Wilson, RN, CNS, MSN, CWOCN- AP, CFCN(r) Patients with fecal and urinary ostomies (sometimes both) have unique needs and face many challenges in our health care system. They frequently seek care and services from urologic and other health care professionals that are not familiar with these conditions. This can result in unnecessary referrals. Having a baseline understanding about the different types of ostomies, basic care concepts, and resources will enhance and improve the services, support and overall care that urologic professionals provide to this special, growing population. 142: The Ins and Outs of Medications Affecting Bladder Function Rx Tracy Anderson-Haag, PharmD, BCPS Many common medications can contribute to bladder dysfunction. In this session we will review several medications that may be causative agents in bladder dysfunction or be associated with drug interactions with common agents used to treat urinary disorders. Participants will leave with increased confidence in optimizing pharma cotherapy to avoid bladder-associated complications. Implementing an evidence-based, validated, and developmentally appropriate screening guideline with visits to pediatric urology providers would allow child sexual abuse victims to be removed from abusive situations, receive appropriate physical and mental health services, and potentially decrease their risk for long-term physical and psychological consequences. 152: Fountain of Youth or Cascade of Complications: Polypharmacy in the Elderly Rx Tracy Anderson-Haag, PharmD, BCPS Aging patient population in your practice? Medication lists getting longer? This session will review pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic changes of common medications used in geriatric patients and their impact on the safety and efficacy of these medications. Due to the high number of children affected and the high number of nocturnal enuresis referrals to our pediatric urology clinic, families experienced an increased wait time for provider appointments, resulting in dissatisfaction and delay in treatment. In an attempt to address this issue and begin treatment as soon as possible, we implemented Pediatric Enuresis Education Sessions. 222: The Art of Patient Teaching (Or is It?) Cheryl LeCroy, MSN, RN Often, patient education is overlooked or done quickly for many reasons. Patient education is a fundamental aspect of patient care and yet poor education is one of the most common sources of patient complaints both in and out of the hospital. Ensuring patient understanding of their health condition is extremely important and can improve outcomes, adherence to the plan of care and patient safety. Patient education concepts and creative ways to interject patient teaching in encounters with urologic patients will be discussed. 6

7 PF 223: Sacral Nerve Stimulation (SNS) Programming and Troubleshooting Lori Guelman, MSN, RN-FNP-BC The SNS is an implantable neurostimulator device indicated for OAB, UUI, urinary retention and fecal incontinence. This talk will review SNS and discuss indications for reprogramming as well as different ways to troubleshoot in the office. Additional focus on practical concerns and decisions made in real-life clinical practice. PF 243: Asymptomatic Microscopic Hematuria in Women Shawn Menefee, MD Asymptomatic microscopic hematuria (AMH) is a common finding and has been considered an important clinical sign of urinary tract malignancy. The definition and guidelines of AMH have changed over the years. Much of the evidence is based on data from male patients and the risk of urinary tract malignancy may be less in women than in men. Women specific conditions may lead to increased incidence of AMH. Likewise, primary care providers appear not to refer many women with AMH. We will review guidelines and consider how recent evidence is changing practice. APN 244: Role of Imaging in Stone Disease Margaret Pearle, MD Imaging is the cornerstone of the diagnosis of kidney stones and it plays an important role in surgical planning, surgical management and follow-up of patients with kidney stones. The different imaging modalities available for diagnosing stones, their risks and benefits and their indications for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with kidney stones will be presented. 2:40 pm 3:40 pm 251: Cancer Genetics, It s Not Just BRCA1/2 Anymore Brian Reys, MS, CGC Delve into the world of hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes in this session designed to update clinicians on the ins and outs of cancer genetics. The use of uniquely developed competency assessment tools will be discussed. These proficiencies have proven to be very valuable in our urology practice and have become an essential part of our nurse s annual performance appraisals. Experience with this competency protocol, our rating system, validation, and evaluation practice for each of our specific competencies will be shared. 262: Nocturia: Advanced Concepts for the Urologic and Urogynecologic Specialist Mikel Gray, FNP, PNP, CUNP, CCCN, FAANP, FAAN Nocturia, defined as interruption of sleep owing to a desire to urinate, is one of the most common and most bothersome lower urinary tract symptoms. PF 263: Treating Pelvic Floor Dysfunction with Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Stephanie Prendergast, MPT The participants of this lecture will understand the evidence behind physical therapy diagnosis and treatment for pelvic floor disorders and understand the components of pelvic floor physical therapy evaluation and treatment. Clinicians will learn how to do a basic pelvic floor examination and suggestions will be made about how to work within an interdisciplinary treatment model. Diagnoses covered will include vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis, pudendal neuralgia, CPPS and stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolpase. Concurrent Tracks APN Advanced Practice Nurse PF Pelvic Floor 8

9 APN 264: Bladder Cancer: From Basics to New Frontiers Leanne Schimke, MSN, FNP-C, CRNP, CUNP After decades without significant advances in bladder cancer treatment, numerous new agents that help to reactivate the patient s own antitumor response have been approved.
