5 RESEARCH AND OTHER EXTERNAL SUPPORT: Agency Title Grant Amount Dates Society of Pediatric Sacred Cow University: $2, Nurses Evidenced Revealed on IM Injections Quality Initiatives: : SLUG-Bugs (Standardizing Line Care Under Guideline Recommendations) Collaborative QI with Children s Hospital Neonatal Database (CHND). Development and Implementation of standardized guidelines to prevent central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI). (We decreased CLABSI rates from 1.76/1000 line days to 0.42/1000 line days and have maintained a low rate) 2013: Development of a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Handoff Form: NNPs had an approach to handoffs between providers, but did not have a standardized approach or form and some issues were missed during handoff especially with multiple PRN and locum NNPs. We searched and analyzed the literature, developed three PDSA cycles, and developed a handoff form that captured important information. Before and after surveys revealed that the NNP team felt the standardized form was important and useful : STEPP-IN: Safe Transitions and Euthermia in the Perinatal Period in Infants and Newborns: A national QI sponsored by the Children s Hospital Association (CHA) and the Children s Hospital Neonatal Database (CHND)Participated in developing the Clinical Practice Recommendations for this national QI. Member of the national Project Management Team and Faculty Advisor team. Local lead for the STEPP-In Project. Results: 1. Reduced post-op hypothermia from 3% to 0.5% in level IV NICU 2. Decreased respiratory and handoff care failures greater than 50% in level IV NICU 2017-current: Simulation of Neonatal Resuscitation to Improve Skills and Team Performance in Trainees. This is a QI to determine if more frequent mock codes and NRP training will help Pediatric residents and NNPs remember the steps and complete neonatal codes appropriately. NON-SUPPORTED RESEARCH: : Using Simulation for NNP Procedural Competency: IRB issued September 2013.
