2 Reports to Shane Cross Clinical Services Director, Brain and Mind Centre Organisational area headspace/brain and Mind Centre Position summary headspace - Camperdown was one of the first round of funded headspace services providing a free/low-cost and comprehensive youth health service for physical and mental health support, information and services to young people aged and their families in a youth friendly environment, and is led by the Brain and Mind Centre. We are currently seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join our team in Camperdown on a part time basis to provide psychological assessment and treatment to young people with emerging or established mental disorders who require longer-term treatment than provided under MBS. More information about the specific role requirements can be found in the position description at the end of this document. Location Brain and Mind Centre Type of appointment Part time (2 days a week), fixed term position till June 2018 Salary Remuneration package: $100,836 p.a. pro rata (which includes a base salary Level 7 $90,160 p.a., leave loading and up to 10.5% employer s contribution to superannuation). OVERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL / DEPARTMENT AND POSITION CONTET headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation. The headspace mission is to deliver improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing and economic participation of young Australian s aged ( To this end, headspace aims to be the focal point for youth mental health issues across the country. This includes providing funding to improve services for young people who may be experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues and the latest information about these important health issues for young people. headspace is aiming to achieve this through the 100 funded headspace services located in each state and territory across Australia. These services provide an entry point for young people to access a broad range of services which are available in their local community, all of whom have a focus on providing a more integrated service response. headspace Camperdown headspace Camperdown was one of the first round of funded headspace services. headspace Camperdown is a free/low-cost and comprehensive youth health service that provides physical and mental health support, information and services to young people aged and their families in a youth friendly environment, and is lead by the Brain and Mind Centre. The team at headspace includes Clinical Psychologists, Psychologists, General Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Nurses, Researchers and Administration staff. The model is guided by the following principles: to provide a range of specialised primary level services to young people across 4 streams; physical health, mental health, drugs and alcohol and vocational support; that any local young person will be able to have timely and easy access to these specialist services, services work together to develop a seamless and coordinated treatment and management model for young people based on reciprocal and preferential access, communication and support between our services.

8 CPPD KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide psychological assessment and evidence-based psychological therapy for young people (12-25) with emerging or established mental disorders under an early-intervention (clinical staging) framework of service delivery 2. Develop, coordinate and facilitate group therapy programs for young people and their families to supplement other forms of treatment they receive in the following areas; emotional regulation, AOD, family support, anxiety/depression, social recovery. 3. In collaboration with the young persons care coordinator, provide 3 monthly follow up assessments for young people with emerging mental disorders using a standardised assessment format. Weekly Provide neuropsychological (intellectual, learning, executive functioning, memory) assessments on young people when requested by other team members. Work with a high level of independence & autonomy in coordination & administration of a busy youth mental health service Ability to liaise closely with onsite independent practitioners, local referral agencies and other services. Carry out all tasks with professionalism, tact, sensitivity, confidentiality and discretion and work calmly under pressure; Problem solve decisively and responsibly in dealing with difficult situations including clinical issues and managing complaints. Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records Monthly 9. Input clinical data as required by headspace National, the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN) and headspace Camperdown. 10. Adhere to headspace Camperdown Clinical Governance Framework, policies and procedures 11. Using IT systems including Microsoft Office, , Practice Management Software provided onsite e.g. Blue Chip and Medical Director. 12. Participate in relevant Clinical Meetings Weekly 13. To participate in headspace Camperdown community awareness activities promoting the health and wellbeing of young people and liaise with relevant community groups, government and non government service providers. Participate in quality improvement projects and research As directed Maintain a working knowledge of current legislation and government policy in relation to mental health and alcohol and other drug disorders, particularly as it relates to young people in NSW Participate in training and professional development as required by headspace, and any other tasks appropriate to classification as requested by the supervisor As required. 11 CPPD KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Skills/techniques: Post graduate qualification in Clinical Psychology Registration as a psychologist with an endorsed area of practise in clinical psychology; or a clinical psychologist who is in the process of completing a registrar program. Experience in psychological assessment and intervention services for young people aged years who have mental health, alcohol and other drug problems. Experience in the development and or facilitation of group therapy programs for young people Well developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving, advocacy and negotiation skills. Demonstrate ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with young people, family/carers, workers and other agencies. Competence regarding clinical information systems, software packages and willingness to be trained and implement MDS, the headspace data collection and registration tool. Other software packages i.e. Blue Chip and Medical Director. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and constructive working relationships with young people, family/carers and other agencies.. Ability to use a desktop computer, with familiarity with the Microsoft Windows environment and Microsoft Office applications and capacity to learn how to use a new clinical software package for keeping of electronic client records WORKING WITH CHILDREN If the position involves working with children, a Working with Children Check clearance must be obtained.
