The Child Advocacy and Protection Services (CAPS) program operates 7 Child Advocacy Centers (CAC) in the State of Wisconsin, 2 medical satellite programs and a large and active hospital-based consultation service. In aggregate, the program is involved in the evaluation of approximately 7,000 children annually. In addition to the direct service programs CAPS is involved in research, community and statewide programs, and education including an ACGME accredited Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship program. The Advanced Practice Provider performs and/or assists in the medical evaluations of children suspected of being physically or sexually abused or neglected and children entering the foster care system.
