Clinical Manager- Child, Adolescent and Family Service Professional accountabilities to the Occupational Therapy Professional Advisor Older Persons Mental Health, Options HB and Allied Health Service Professional Accountability Professional Leader of Occupational Health HBDHB Purpose of the position To enable provision of highest quality Occupational therapy services as part of an interprofessional team. The Occupational therapist contributes to an interprofessional team of health practitioners to provide high quality consistent services that are well coordinated and integrated. The Occupational therapy process includes assessment and treatment interventions with people who have complex social and health needs this enables people to live well in their own environment. To contribute to an Occupational therapy service that is focused on maximising independence through enabling performance of meaningful and purposeful occupations. To prioritise patient safety and quality, relating to care and processes within the Child, Adolescent and Family Service. Delivery of organisational KPI s including relevant MOH target, financial budgets and service plans. To recognise and support the delivery of the Hawkes Bay Health sector vision. Working Relationships Internal External Clinical Manager and Associate Manager of CAFS. All other clinicians at CAFS. CDS team Team Leader Occupational Therapy/Professional Advisor. Allied Health Director Other Regulated and /unregulated staff practitioners and assistants Service Director Other support staff. Administration team. General Practice GPs and practice Nurses and other staff. Primary health providers, NGOs and the wider health system. Patients/ Consumers, supporters and families. Community Agencies ie Hohepa Home and school. Schools. Child, Youth and Family. Ministry of Health.

Number of staff reports NA Delegations & Decision Ensure clinical decisions are made on sound clinical reasoning and in a timely responsive manner. Work within an interprofessional model of intervention and service delivery. Delegate appropriately to other members of the interprofessional team both regulated and non-regulated staff. Working within the multi-disciplinary team to review/clarify effective treatment processes, management of risk and providing advice to the team from an O.T perspective. Other Indicators Accountable for health record entry hard copy and electronic that meets with NZ health records standards. Take part and lead quality improvement activities for example; management of wait times and other KPI. Participate and be responsive to feedback and performance planning and review. Attendance, contribution and participation within team meeting and activities that is positive and proactive.

4 K E Y A C C O U N T A B I L I T I E S CLINICAL PRACTICE Manages and is accountable for providing safe, effective and appropriate occupational therapy interventions within the health care setting. Using and documenting a planned occupational therapy process as per occupational therapy process standards. Works within ethical guidelines, Code of Health and Disablity Service Consumers Rights, HBDHB Professional Occupational Therapy Standards, clinical protocols and guidelines and the health records policy. Utilises the principles of people centred care to enable occupations when introducing Occupational therapy service practice improvements. Demonstrates expertise in applying the principles of teaching coaching and learning in association with supporting staff and pateint education Develop and strengthen interventions for rehabilitation and particpation within occupations Demonstrates knowledge and application of enabling occupation and environmental modifications,which may assist people to gain mastery and optimal independence in the community and in their own homes. Demonstrate essential requirements (or working towards) for Enable New Zealand accreditation areas i.e. housing, wheelchairs and seating, personal cares, household management. Professional accountabilities to the Occupational Therapy Professional Advisor Contributes to the health record by providing documented evidence of therapeutic intervention and sound clinical reasoning. Meets expectations of health records standards and policies National and HB DHB. Patient and Customer feedback. Demonstrates change and innovation in response to performance feedback and review. SERVICE PROVISION Ensures that appropriate quality and risk management processes are in place and used effectively in laison with the wider team and Occupational therapy team leader. As part of a team, ensure contributions to improving the delivery of the service is based on continued quality initiatives. Be focussed on patient/client safety at all times, and adhering to the HBDHB polices on working safely. Participate within interprofessional practice and contribute to collaborative intergrated care planning and treatment intervention. Ensure all clinical health record entry both electroinc and hard copy a is entered in accordance with NZ Health records standerds and completed within the 8 hour shift. To cooperate/assist the Team leader and in all matters necessary to the efficient management and development of the occupational therapy service in accordance with departmental and Hawke s Bay District Health Board policies and proceedures. To teach/mentor/support occupational therapy junior staff and students, Proactively contribute to education of other professions in the role of occupational therapist. Quality and auditing information. Evidence of particpation and contribution at meetings. Evidence of quality initiatives that are focused on patient journey and faciliatative of change and service delivery improvement to benefit and enhance the occupational therapy services within the DHB. Evidence of teaching/coaching programmes to promote and improve the profile of occupational therapy. Evidence of supervising/mentoring of occupational therapy students..evidence of involvement with Service innovation and development activite contribution to ideas a and implimentation of quality improvements.

5 To be available to develop support /mentor and contribute to growtha nd development of other Occupational therapists. PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATIONS Tasks (how it is achieved): Maintains competence in clinical practice as outlined in the occupational therapy competencies for registration. Ensure annual performance review is complete outlining professional developments needs and support. To adhere to national professional standards of practice and New Zealand Occupational Therapy Board Code of Ethics. Maintain regular supervision as a requirement of the Occupational therapy board of New Zealand. Positive performance review process resonse to feedback that is postive and contribute to growth and change. Attainment of annual practising certificate. Evidence of keeping up to date with best practice evidence and ongoing professional development to ensure high quality contemporay best practice. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY Tasks (how it is achieved): Displays commitment through actively supporting all health and safety initiatives. Ensures all staff/colleagues maintain adequate safety standards on the job through consultation, training and supervision. Ensures own and others safety at all times. Complies with policies, procedures and safe systems of work. Reports all incidents/accidents, including near misses in a timely fashion. 7 Essential and Desirable Criteria: Qualifications / Skills / Experience Essential Treaty of Waitangi Responsiveness (cultural safety) Qualifications (eg, tertiary, professional) Demonstrates the ability to include cultural safety of the health consumer when relating to care and processes within the Service. Demonstrates ability to apply the Treaty of Waitangi within the Service. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BSc), or equivalent. New Zealand Registered Occupational Therapist with current annual practising certificate (APC). Business / Technical Skills (eg, computing, negotiating, leadership, project management) Experience (technical and behavioural) Current New Zealand drivers licence and ability to drive Excellent and responsive verbal and non-verbal communication written and verbal. Sound clinical reasoning and judgement skills. Will have excellent prioritise/time management skills. Proven computer literacy ability to use current programmes Experience and skill with Community practice, equipment housing modification,wheelchairs and seating. Relevant post graduate experience in a physical acute, rehabilitation or community setting. Accredited Assessor with Enable New Zealand Bands 1 and 2 in the areas of: - Personal care - Household management - Wheelchairs Level 1 seating Accredited Assessor with Enable New Zealand in the areas of: - Seating; Wheelchairs Band 2 - Housing modifications. or willingness to complete

Recruitment Details Position Title Hours of Work Salary & Employment Agreement Coverage Occupational Therapist 80 per fortnight Permanent In accordance with the Allied Public and Technical MECA Multi Employer Collective Agreement $48,810 to $72,772 gross per annum according to qualifications and experience.
