2 Purpose of this role To ensure appropriate, safe, timely care clinical management and coordination of women referred to the gynaecology and colposcopy service in accordance with the NCSP Policy & Quality Standards. 4 Domain Two Clinical Nurse Specialist / Nurse Practitioner Management of nursing care at advanced practice level Includes accountability related to patient/client assessment and management of advanced nursing care that is supported by evidence Clinical Care/Care Coordination Provide appropriate and timely information, education, and support as required for women Support to women and their family/whanau is provided in an empathetic manner. Education and information is provided in a manner that facilitates informed decision making. Education and information activities that promote awareness of psychological issues of concern to women participating cervical screening / colposcopy. Identifies / removes barriers for women in regards to attendance utilising appropriate support services. Manages the support to services referrals for Maori and Pacific women prior to first colposcopy appointment and following non-attendance, monitors outcomes. Appropriate referrals to other support services are made Ensure high quality nursing Undertakes a systematic medical / gynaecological history which is appropriately documented. practices occur during the Provides advanced Colposcopic / gynaecological assessment and clinical decision making of women utilising diagnostic reasoning and appropriate diagnostic testing. assessment process Appropriate nursing support is provided to women during all stages of assessment and follow-up in the colposcopy / gynaecology service. Management of cases requiring review and appropriate consultation / collaboration to ensure the best outcomes for women. Documentation is professional, accurate and transparent. Completion of clinical database activities related to colposcopy clinics To ensure Colposcopy / Gynaecology care expertise and adherence to quality standards is evident within the service Understanding of and commitment to meeting the NCSP Colposcopy Service Policy & Quality Standards) is demonstrated. Regular attendance at the Colposcopy team meetings. Training needs are identified and carried out as appropriate (e.g. attendance at Colposcopy Course to complete C-QUIP certification and 3 yearly attendances at a colposcopy conference). Knowledge and understanding of advances in Colposcopy and Gynaecology practice is maintained by participation in: o clinical multidisciplinary in-house sessions for case review at least every two months o programme study sessions; o nationally recognised education programmes, or; o regional, national or international seminars, conferences or courses Regular clinical supervision Completion of a Master of Nursing programme in a Nurse Practitioner pathway Women s Health Revised: Approved by: J Peach Director of Nursing & Midwifery 11/12/2017 Page 4 Page 4

7 PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Education and Qualifications Experience Skills/Knowledge/ Behaviour Personal Attributes Clinical Nurse Specialist / Nurse Practitioner Intern Women s Health Registered Nurse RCpN, RGON, BHSC with current Annual Practising Certificate Post Graduate Diploma in specialty women s health nursing with advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills is desirable. Commitment is required - studying towards completion of Masters in advanced nursing practice on a Nurse Practitioner Pathway to complete Nurse Practitioner endorsement. At least five years post registration contemporary nursing practice in women s health Achieved RN Level 4 or equivalent in specialty with current portfolio Clinical expert in women s health which can be across settings such as outpatient, acute or primary care. Reputation for excellence in clinical practice in women s health specialty Able to establish a robust unit quality management system setting, clinical standards and managing the implementation of these standards Current clinical leader/unit management in a women s health environment. Advanced team management leadership experience Experience in change management and process implementation utilising exceptional inter-disciplinary relationship building and people management skills Experience in commissioning and developing healthcare services desirable Recognised as clinically expert in women s health as per professional development and recognition programme Respected by clinicians for knowledge, skill and ability to show appropriate/clinical leadership. Reputation for high standards of patient care delivery Advanced assessment skills and knowledge of nursing theory and practice in relation to women s health. Proven ability to carry out nursing and advanced health assessments. Demonstrates confident, collaborative approach, strong and self-reliant. Experience in developing systems and procedures to ensure high quality service delivery Excellent written and oral communication skills especially, listening, client support and advocacy, appropriate referrals, individual and group health education sessions Demonstrated team management skills specifically within diverse multi-functional teams.
