1 Award Categories and Selection Criteria STUDENT AWARDS ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD - This award is presented to Aboriginal students who have completed a TAFE NSW course at Certificate I or II. Course Completed and Certificate Level (50 How has the student demonstrated (in 800 : o achievement of academic potential, o consistency of effort, and o a positive attitude to further education and/or employment Teacher reference/validation (500 ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - This award is presented to Aboriginal students who have successfully completed a TAFE NSW course at Certificate III or IV. Course completed and certificate level (50 How has the student demonstrated (in 800 : o achievement of academic potential, o consistency of effort, and o a positive attitude to further education and/or employment Teacher reference/validation (500 AWARD FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE - This award is presented to Aboriginal students who have successfully completed a TAFE NSW Course at Certificate IV or above. Course completed and certificate level (50 How has the student demonstrated (in 800 : o excellence in achievement of academic results and outcomes o consistency in quality of work, and o a positive attitude to further education or employment Teacher reference/validation (500

2 APPRENTICE/TRAINEE OF THE YEAR AWARDS - These awards are presented to an Aboriginal Apprentice/Trainee who has shown excellence and commitment in their chosen field. Apprenticeship or Traineeship completed in 2010 (50 Teacher reference/validation (700 : o Demonstrated excellence in educational achievement o Positive attitude to further education Employer reference/validation (700 : o Demonstrated excellence in practical work o Positive attitude towards employment TAFE DELIVERED VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING AWARD (SCHOOLS) - This award is presented to Aboriginal students who have demonstrated excellence in achievement in a TVET course during high school. Details of qualification completed in 2010 (in 200 : o What was the course and certificate level? o What school did the nominee attend? o Was the course completed during the School Certificate or Higher School Certificate? How has the student demonstrated (in 800 : o achievement of academic potential, and o consistency of effort o a positive attitude to further education or employment Teacher reference/validation (500

3 STAFF AWARDS ABORIGINAL STAFF AWARD - This award is presented to an Aboriginal TAFE NSW or State Office employee who has made significant contribution to the vocational education and training outcomes of Aboriginal students. How has the staff member contributed to improved vocational education and training outcomes for Aboriginal people? (650 How has the staff member shown a commitment to working in partnership with Aboriginal communities? (650 How has the staff member been a positive role model to all TAFE NSW and State Office personnel and stakeholders? (650 NON-ABORIGINAL STAFF AWARD - This award is presented to a non- Aboriginal TAFE NSW or State Office employee who has made significant contribution to the vocational education and training outcomes of Aboriginal students How has the staff member contributed to improved vocational education and training outcomes for Aboriginal students? (650 How has the staff member shown a commitment to working in partnership with Aboriginal communities? (650 How has the staff member been a positive role model to all TAFE NSW and State Office personnel and stakeholders? (650 BRUCE KENDALL AWARD FOR RECOGNITION OF SERVICE TO TAFE NSW - This award is presented to an Aboriginal TAFE NSW or State Office Aboriginal employee with proven excellence and long-term commitment to Aboriginal education and training. Minimum of 10 years service in TAFE NSW or State Office (50 Outline the staff member s significant long-term contribution and dedication to Aboriginal education and training in TAFE NSW or State Office (1000

5 PARTNERSHIP AWARDS INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP AWARD - This award is presented to a TAFE NSW Institute that has partnered with industry to develop a program for Aboriginal people that has contributed to the capacity building and employment outcomes for an Aboriginal community in NSW. Who were the partners? How many people were involved? (100 How was the Aboriginal community involved? (200 What program/s have been implemented through the partnership? (200 What were/are the goals of the partnership and have they been achieved? (350 What were the challenges faced in achieving the outcomes?
